My, a command gunner on B-29s during WW2, told me that he and his crew flew into Boeing Field in 1945. He's not in these photos, but it's cool to see what he must have!

When I was a teenager, over three decades ago, I had a neighbor and close family friend who mentioned that he was deployed to a B-29 base on some island in the western Pacific during The War. He said that the air was so hot and thin, and the aircraft so heavy that they could barely sustain level flight after takeoff. He said the propellers would kick up spray from the tops of the waves until the planes had enough airspeed to start climbing. That would've been amazing to see with one's own eyes. Another neighbor said he was the photographer that took the pictures of Hiroshima being bombed. He had cancer in his right eye that eventually claimed his life. Another man in my city was present when Hermann Göring surrendered to allied troops. I look back and wish I had been more interested in their stories while they were still alive. What remarkable history.

EXCELLENT 😂. Nice RR. . It is to be noted that model railroaders look amazingly like amateur radio operators.

BF 109E, found on the beach in France. Was a total wreck buried in sand with only a wingtip sticking out! Pretty much restored from scratch. The banner has a likeness of Churchill and reads, “Gott Strafe England.” (God punish England)

Thanks Ray - this is a great learning tool and I really enjoyed it. And it probably took you less time and is more realistic than if you had built it in F scale, right? If you decide to, I expect to see the steam engine and stamp batteries turning, like in the video! :)
