Hi, the rootstocks are sawn from the layer when the new shooted roots are hardened sufficiently.

Hello I’m from Sweden I plan on starting a cider orchard for next year when selling farm brewed alcohol will become legal here. I was wondering price per apple tree when buying quantities of 30-100. Also your system of planting for orchard seems very optimized. Is there a resource you recommend reading about to learn. Pruning, water irrigation and support sticks. How to deal with animals bothering the trees and pest control of orchards? Lengthy question with hard answers but would appreciate the reply so very much! Love your social media presence! 👍🏽

Hi, in a more tropical climate in dry conditions I would recommend MM106 or MM111 rootstocks since they are more drought resistant.

That's a complicated question and depends on several factors.. No market is the same. Consumer preferences vary by region worldwide. And as grower you have to grow a variety suitable for your local climate.

Hi, we do not grow seeds. We grow rootstocks and fruit trees. Rootstocks come from stoolbeds. Trees are grown out of rootstocks and grafted budwood (the actual apple variety) together.

Hi, thanks! There is no permanent watering system in the stoolbeds. If we need to water the rootstocks, we use a rain gun to irrigate.

No, we don't cut roots in the nursery. We should keep as many roots as possible, which will help the plant to settle and start growing when planted in the orchard.

Hi, the wax is used as a seal for protection. It will keep the moisture inside and won't dry out. It will also keep insects out.

Hi, it is possible to graft Modi on M9 rootstock. It is more important that the rootstock will match your desired orchard system, the vigour of the variety, the type of soil and the climate where trees are planted in.

This is the layering of a new stoolbed (motherplants). The shoots coming from this layer, will be cut every year (see 11:45) and are used as rootstock for grafting the trees.
