I’m still watching and re watching all these videos with almost a month in now selecting. I must be doing something right because everyone comments on how nice my pallets look and keep asking me if I had experience before working here which I did not. I did however have a bad order where I had a total of 7 of these stupid fruit punch in a medium sized clear bucket halfway through an order so it was stacked on top of chicken and other stuff and as I turned in the last isle 2 of them flew off my pallet along with 3 yogurts and of course crushed them. Luckily for me though one of our loaders took the time to come over and help me out, he went and grabbed new ones and brought them to the dock door and let me fix my pallet and wrap it up nice. And this is a guy who is near top in seniority and everyone always says is an A hole. Lesson learned, should have ran some wrap around the middle after I got those buckets, would have been faster than what I had to deal with!

Brother, you think just like me my job doesn’t let me train anymore because I was that good and a few other union places as well now they have guys that are just lazy and wouldn’t be off the clock to train now the warehouse is falling apart. No one helps not even the union We hope things get better for us, but it’s not looking so well, but the company will not leave the union because we are number one in our whole company. We’re both by company and we push out the most product but still you speak the truth and might think alike, which I think it’s great awesome job man.

Working my way up slowly but surely following your advice! On week 3 of being on my own and I’m hitting 75-80% while building solid pallets. I keep getting compliments on how good my pallets look so thank you for all the helpful tips and suggestions for building pallets. They don’t really train or teach this in my warehouse it’s up to you to figure it out while trying to get to 100 in 90 days. Almost there another couple weeks I should be hitting them numbers though

Man, I have to say big up first of all. Your videos helped me out a lot when I first got in this industry. I made a collosal f*ck up tho and fumbled my last gig (made over 100K$ last financial year) and had to start up again. On like maybe 60K right now. It's a solid noticeable 20-30K difference, but I have a pathway to get back to 100K+ and will take me another year/year and half. But I wanted to say cheers Tim, and the other brother that has a similar warehouse DC type channel. Guys, if you are new to this industry, pay attention to the tips these guys give, things like memorizing check digits and picking stacking patterns etc. You'll definitely consistently hit 110-120% performance bonuses easily. Also take care of your body and make sure to stretch and lift weights etc.., that's gonna' help you thru the early stages before you at least move to reach or long forks etc. and less picking. It's a good industry to get into and you'll be able to see the reason why you are doing what you do/are doing! :]

As weird as it sounds, sometimes having a pallet fall is really helpful because it shows you where the weak spot was and gives you a chance to restack and fix your mistake. If stuff is broken that obviously sucks but if it's just dry stuff that fell over it gives you a basically a do-over
@BenjaminHeyman
@BenjaminHeyman 16 күн бұрын
I nearly sent you a picture. There's a moron at my warehouse who insists on column stacking those 16 count cans of soda which when you put them in layers of 10 or 11 make a fantastic base. Idiot had a 10-foot tall pallet the other day that the trainers had the restack for him
@BenjaminHeyman

Oh my God the center riders are so much fun to use. I was terrified of them the first day, but they turn sharper, you get more room when you're parking next to the pick slot and there's so much easier on your upper body when you're not dragging that handle back and forth around corners.

We were trained to pick on one side as to not hold up traffic for example the forklift couldnt pass becsuse he was in the middle. HE proably has a rate to hit as well.. tlhis warehouse looks like a nightmare to pick in so many messed up locations he picks fast. But can easily get injured. Id be wrote up for saftey if i picked like that. We are aloud 2 saftey write ups before termination. Watching him pick kinda annoys me as well because it just makes everyone elses job harder. I know people that try to pick like this and it slows other people down with messed up locations staying in the middle of the aisle etc. Or trying to race someone that has a smaller order. Sorry random rant but people that pick like this annoys me lol

Hey Tim. I hope you had a good Labor day holiday. Two things jump out at me. First, The automatic jack helps out in that he doesn't have to jump on and off to move the jack foward to the next slot. Second, aside from the hilo that is gathering empty pallets, he's the only guy in all the rows that's selecting. I do agree that he does have a system and he's moving at a fast pace.
@BenjaminHeyman
@BenjaminHeyman 22 күн бұрын
Yeah, especially right at the beginning there's always a traffic jam in the first two aisles and we were trained to park on the side of the aisle you're picking from unless it's REALLY empty and you can grab what you need fast.

Tips for defogging glasses in Freezer. Don't leave the Freezer (dress warm enough, hand & toe warmers). That's usually the only time mine fog up(in and out of the Freezer) However also if wearing a face mask. I wear it up to my chin but not over my mouth/nose. I sometimes in the deep freezer take a break and pull it over my nose for warmth and just pull it down after my glasses start fogging up. This means hand wrapping (I think my hand wrapped is better than automatic wrapper machine) all my pallets in the Freezer. Hopefully this helps someone.

Im new, and run in the cooler. Its hard to run a decent number when they give you 180+ cases and most of them are over 50 pounds of bullshit in a soggy ass cardboard box, or when 90lb cases of beef. Or when a higher up tells you to "tower stack" the 90lb cases of beef until its 7 foot tall because thats "how they like it". Or when the "let down" guys are just gonna wait untill you have 3 full pallets to give you the chicken that was shorted, so that you can find a way to put it on the bottom. Or when the some asshole takes your role of "oh shit tape" from your lift when you really need it.

After my first week training 2 days dry and 3 in the cooler my coworkers are amazed that I am brand new and have never selected before! Everyone I drive by and see and the loaders all comment on how nice my pallets look. It’s a great feeling to be starting a new job and doing it well. I have told my trainer that my secret was finding this channel and watching all your videos before I ever threw a case. One thing he is telling me to improve on is to try and move the cases around less so I can make better times. My warehouse is very hard to get over 100 percent, the best selectors are around 110-120. After my first week I’m coming in around 75 which I’m happy with because they only expect us to be at a 40 and want us to go up 5 percent a week until we hit 85 which is what we have to stay above. So far I like the job and I appreciate all the help from these videos.
