It all comes down to wieght, power, tech, and price as Harleys only advantage is power. Honda has an advantage as an entry level in all other aspects mentioned above, and rebels are more friendlier in price entry and let's you know what gear you're in on the odometer display.

What size are your slip ons, I put my old ones from my softail bcz they fit and it’s louder than my pops street glide his are 4.5 and mine are 3.5 so I believe that’s why
