I’ve been wondering about survey for so long now. Mostly, “why do people invest in that?” I’m from Madagascar (the island off the southeast corner of Africa) and aerial survey doesn’t exist here. We’re a little behind the rest of the continent. But you mentioned your company sometimes flies in Africa, which makes ne wonder even more: can’t we have that here as well? I’d understand if you aren’t able to name-drop. But could you maybe tell me what to google to find your company? I tried “international multiphysics aerial survey company Spain” and all I have left to ask is, does your company (name) have anything to do with King Arthur?
@onenutnightmare8 ай бұрын
It does! I think you've found it! They've got an incredible team. Super organized. Top notch maintenance engineer team. They have a base in South Africa, too. Unless there is some sort of flight restriction or a lack of accommodation or maintenance resources, I'd guess a survey in Madagascar is possible. I just fly the plane. I'm not involved in any sort of client negotiations. However, clients could be looking for ground water, hydrogen, potassium, uranium, and pretty much any natural resource hidden in the ground.

Ok, this is awesome. I am a surveyor in the Canadian Army and am looking into transitioning into becoming a civilian pilot soon. This would definitely be something I would like to pursue. So my question is: How do you go to the bathroom when you are in the air for that long? Haha

Short answer: you don't!

I love the video. Very excited about what I might do with my new pilots certificate. I’m just about ready to solo. So hopefully it won’t be too long till I get my license. Would it be better to have your CPL before doing this course if you wanted to get hired as a bush pilot?
@onenutnightmare9 ай бұрын
If you know you want to be a bush pilot I would look for a place you could do you PPL on floats. If you already have your PPL I would do this course during your time building portion of your CPL.
@tanmilne9 ай бұрын
@@onenutnightmare thanks for the reply! I found a program that gets you PPL and CPL on floats. Going to be looking into that.

Thanks for the vid and explanation. I was under a similar impression, that there was 2 paths for an aviation career: military or airliners/cargo. The first challenge to that belief was a man that owned a local flight school saying he saw CFI as a career choice (and he was doing quite well). Interestingly, while undergoing my initial flight training, one of these survey Caravans was in the Tucson area...surveying. "I wonder what sort of instruments are in that boom?"

They are typically looking for 1000+ hour pilots. But they did hire one 230 hour pilot this year that was in his late 30s with lots of other relevant life experience. A resume with some travel experience would certainly help.
