How much is the Bus Fare from Tacloban to Allen?
@joefoyvideos
@joefoyvideos 5 күн бұрын
Hi - To go from Tacloban to Allen by aircon bus it cost us about 600 pesos each. We got the bus at the station across from Robinsons. The actual price is around 500 pesos each - but we also paid an additional 100 pesos to the porter that took us to the correct bus and helped us get accepted. We were very happy to pay 600 pesos each. The bus we got on goes straight through to Manila - but we got off in Allen and took a tricycle to our hotel. You can also take a van to Allen from Tacloban - but we did not want to wait. Hope that helps. Happy travels!

Nice video. But it is the Quince Martires Plaza (15 Martyrs Plaza) that is across from the San Francisco Church, not Plaza Rizal. It is an easy to mistake to make though because they both have similar monuments. But the 15 Martyrs monument has gold cladding while the Plaza Rizal monument has silver cladding. Plaza Rizal is further to the southwest, near PureGold. Is Christina from Naga City?

Thank you very much for pointing out my mistake in misnaming the Quince Martyrs Plaza as Rizal Plaza. I have now taken time to read a little about the 15 Martyrs and have posted a link to the story. I appreciate you bringing them to my attention and will seek to learn more. In answer to your question - No, Cristina was not born in Naga. Cristina was born in 1960 in Pasay, Metro Manila. Cristina's mother was born in Naga in 1922. Thanks again for setting me straight!

If you still can, it's best to tour the Philippines on a Mototcycle (a scooter or a maxi one for comfort). You can buy 1 a month before your arrival (as it takes that much for it to be road legal - OR/CR aka registration takes month). During that time, you can have it equipped with additional driving lights and the so called "top box" carrier. After your stay - yo can always sell it (or leave it with someone you trust for your next visit).

Driving a motorbike looks like a ton of fun - and also great for going places that buses, taxi, Grab, vans, jeepneys, or tricycles don't go - with stopping along the way or side trips any time you like. But a bike is not for Cristina and I in Philippines. I have never driven a motorbike in my life. When we we travel outside of North America we always take the local buses, trains, vans etc. In North America for road trips we generally drive and camp. Car camping for paved roads and 4X4 for back roads. In our home city of Metro Vancouver I commute to work on an electric bicycle - and Cristina takes the Skytrain. For day to day stuff we will take the car or Skytrain and bus. One thing about taking public transit in the Philippines is that you sure do meet a lot of people along the way - way more that you would meet in Canada.

You are probably right. Cristina and I have a few eatery strategies when on the road going from town to town. We generally eat where the locals eat. And we generally don't eat in an empty place. I figure those two strategies were a big part of keeping us both healthy over several months of in travel the Philippines - without fail.

Better not to stay here because Manila is not safe compare to other region which is more safety and comfortable and even retirement is not good anymore. Come here if our president is VP Inday Sara Duterte. That's the best thing you do. Once Sara Duterte is on good faith yah!, Philippines won't the same as Marcos do. Very bad situation now. This situation now is under the influence of to much corruption from the president and also in higher house and lower house involve also high ranking officials, Police and military personnel. The government cannot sympathize with an addict in a prohibited drug

That's not actually a family-friendly hotel, if you know what I mean. Most people go there for short-stays so they don't really care about it that much, they'll do their business and get on with it. That's why the staffs are complacent too.
@joefoyvideos
@joefoyvideos 2 ай бұрын
Ha ha - we agree with you. But when you look on-line on Booking.com there is no way to tell it is not family-friendly. Until you arrive - but then its late and you have already paid. Our experience with Philippine accommodation over-all has been great. Hotels here are a super good value, clean and well run. Certainly better value than in our home country of Canada. Booking.com has been good too. Until this one time. Weird. Oh well. No harm done. Makes for a good travel story. And a lesson learned.

We do not travel by car in Philippines. We use bus or van or jeepney to travel between cities. The parking area at the Mamori Hotel in Allen looked safe to me. Some people who were staying there parked right in front of their room door. The parking area is very clean and well lighted and is situated between the building with the hotel rooms and the building with the staff and kitchen. I don't know about security personnel.
