Hey @Driven-Production - thanks for your comment and yes, the Sepia Brown PTS code 415-9-2 is a 'unique' color that was first introduced by Porsche back in 1969 thru 1973 and a few years ago Porsche decided to bring back some of those early retro colors. As you may have noticed on our new YT channel, that I am the original owner of a '73 911T Targa in Sepia Brown and the '23 911 Targa 4 GTS and the '24 Spyder RS in the same color with a '25 Cayman GT4 RS also in Sepia Brown on the way by hopefully Spring time. Copy that on the unwrapping and I get it, but our goal was to produce a video for the YT channel. Thanks again - appreciate the interest - cheeRS

I know a lot of people like the older style chrome/rubber bumperettes pre 1973, but for me - I love the '73 rubber bumperettes, not so much the style maybe, but the fact it's a one off year only. Pre '73 had the chrome with the rubber insert and the '74's went to the G-body style that changes everything from the F-series. @Richardsdelegance
@Richardsdelegance Ай бұрын
Hey @Mr10usdad - sorry for my delay, but thanks for you comment about my 911 and 914. There are only 3 similarities - they're both 1973's, black and have 15" wheels - other then that - they're very different. The 911 is certainly a rear engine, where the 914 is a mid engine - the 911 has a 915 5-speed trani, where the 914 has the old 901 style 5-speed trani and the shift pattern is different with first gear for the 911 is up to the left and the 914 is down to left. The 911 has a 2.7L MFI (mechanical fuel injection) and the 914 is also a 2.7L 6 cylinder, but is carburetor - and, the 911 has two small seats in the rear, while the 914 don't got any back seats (as I'm sure you know). Drive ability - the 911 has a longer wheel base, so a bit more stability at speed, but the 914 will get thru a corner much faster because of weight distribution. Both are running around 210 horsepower, but because of gearing the 911 has a better top end. Exhaust note - the 911 with SS heat exchangers and a Bursch sport muffle, while the 914 is OEM heat exchangers and a sport muffle too. But, with the 914 and being carburetor, you get the induction noise from the carbs. The 2 Porsches are quit different, so I hope I was able to help explain a few of the differences. Thanks for your comment - appreciate it and hope you enjoy some of the other content on our YT channel - cheeRS

Hey @pg9144 - sorry for the delay, but thanks for the comment about my '73 914. And yes, the fender lips have been rolled from the top of the tire area, while the front and rear lips of the fenders where not rolled - gonna guess the profile of the fenders look better having not rolled the full length of the fender lips. I do remember in conversation with James from the parts department, he did mention Chucks 2.8L 914-6. I spoke with James several years ago to try and secure more info about the black 914 and found out then, my little '73 914 was one of a few - very special Porsche built by Chuck. @@hybriddyneguy - Hey, sorry for the delay (don't live on YT), but no way would I put the GT flares on her, because 'she's' (ooops 🙂) a low mileage 914 and the paint is original with just over 47,000 miles - so no flares. My tires are Hoosier R7's 205x50ZRx15 on all 4 corners - they are a DOT stamped tire, but also stamped saying "for competition use only" (I'm cheating and using them on the street). Their like a slick with wear bars - not for wet conditions though. I would not go larger in the front and would stay with the 205x50x15 on all 4 corners. if you autocross, then the Hoosier is the tire for you - if they're still available. I just bought a set of Yokohomo's from Tire Rack (Chad at ext. 4469 - mention my name) for my '73 911E - they're the Advan A052 - a great set of tires for street or track with a 7/32" tread pattern if I remember correctly - a soft compound with an awesome tread pattern. And was that all that you did exhaust wise to that one? In 1982 I bought a 72 911T with S appearance option including front and rear sway bars mechanical injection, A/C and deep 6 Fuchs . At the time I was doing custom paint work on sports cars and muscle cars. I bought it from a auto salvage yard it needed a fender a hood and a complete paint job, someone had painted black was originally orange. It had 80k miles on the odometer cost was $2,500. I thought I was going to flip cars and get rich, lol. I took the car apart to do a color change to, of course guards red. All my friends bugged me to put turbo flairs or at least SC flairs on. I just liked the look of the car as a narrow body with the deep 6 wheels and did not flair the car. I did not know much about 911 other than the basics, flat six engine so on so on. I remember as I was removing the doors and all the chrome for paint, I could not figure out who would put chrome fender moldings on a Porsche? I figure that they must be aftermarket and tossed them. A mistake and Years later I learned of the option S appearance and the difference between T E and S, and factory wheel arch moldings. At completion I had close to $5k invested. Put it up for sale for $10k. No one wanted at that price due to it not being a S or not a turbo look. A couple of offers for about $8k That would have put my wage at about $5 per hour and at that point I said to myself I will keep it before I basically give it away. I still have the car and now I see that many people now understand what these narrow body cars and a motor that you don't have to turn high Rpm all day. Glad I held my ground and kept it as I liked it.

Hey - @letsride2057 - sorry for my delay, but thanks for taking the time to tell me the story about your '72 911T. And, good on you for keeping her a narrow body - a lot of Porsche owners of the earlier 911's did enjoy doing either the SC flare or the turbo flares or the '73 RS flares, but for the purist - narrow body is the way to go!! Even though as the original owner of my '73 911T Targa, I did make some modifications, as you may have seen on our YT channel a few months ago. I still have though, as you may have seen in the YT 'Introduction', the '73 911E and the '73 911S as narrow body Porsche still. And yes, the chrome fender moldings did come stock on the T, E and S. Only the purists understood the need to leave the fender moldings alone - even though, most all those early 911 owners, did remove them at some point. Don't fret about not keeping them - I didn't keep mine either, after we did the mods. back in 1991. You should be able to still purchase in the after market - like at Stoddard Porsche or Pelican Parts. And , good on you again for keeping her after all of these years - if my math is right, you've had her for 42 years - excellent!! Well now @williamjackson5357 - even though we have never met or communicated before, I think I love you :-) as a figure of speech. And yes, you are right about Porsche's PTS paint code 415-9-2 Sepia Brown - is certainly my favorite, being that I have 3 Porsches in Sepia Brown (please see previous post on YT). First offered by Porsche in 1969 -1973, not a lot of people were attracted to this color, but a few years ago, Porsche reintroduced this special PTS color back in 2022 for the Boxster models and then was offered in 2023 for the 911 models. So, thank you so much for your comments about this special color and "...bar none" it is the best color that Porsche has ever offered - appreciate it - cheeRS

Hey Sparky245 - and yep, an L.A. brat all the way!! I miss those simple times back then, but nothing stays the same - just look at the technology changes with Porsche over the last 50 or so years. The Sepia Brown color was not the most popular back then, but I think the market has grown to appreciate this unique color. Thanks for your comment and CheeRS

Hey @waltvancourt5052 - thanks for your comment and always pleased to hear from another 718 Spyder owner. Love the chalk and certainly a manual is the way to go - wish Porsche gave the Spyder RS a manual, but we're told it would not fit??? Not sure why, because our 718 Spyder's offer the manual, but not the RS - maybe an issue with the GT3 style motor? Thanks again and CheeRS

Hey @erichstevens3246 - and person after my own heart :-) There is nothing like driving the old analog style 911 F-series, with the long front hood and more - they just don't make them like that anymore. And then, to be able to remove the top, fold it up - put in the trunk or backseat and enjoy the Targa style 911. Thanks for checking us out on our new YT channel - CheeRS

Hey @rtsmith3921 - sorry for my delay and thanks for your comment! After the purchase of my new '73 911T Targa - that was the last new Porsche I purchased until 2022 - 49 years later I had the good fortune to buy new the 718 Spyder, then in '23 the Sepia Brown 911Targa 4 GTS and now the '24 Spyder RS in Sepia Brown too. And yes, a legendary color for Porsche - not the most popular, but I luv it - obviously :-) Thanks again and hope you enjoy our YT channel - CheeRS

Hey @MW-gi1tr - sorry for the delay and gonna guess your talking about the 1973.5 plastic air box that kept blowing a hole in the box because of the pop-off valve? Yep, went thru 3 different boxes if I remember - The factory (blew two of those), then a reinforced plastic rib and then a metal lined air box, which solved the problem for me. Can't remember if Porsche did something to help relieve that back pressure too. Thanks for checking us out - hope you enjoy the other videos - CheeRS

Hello @johnschildhouse5198 - sorry for my delay and thank you so much for checking out our YT channel and the video on my special '73 914. As you heard in the video, she is a very unique little 914 and was super lucky to have found her thru the help of Lou Malone with AJ-USA in San Diego. We did have the 1970 - '71 914 -6 narrow body and certainly the GT 914-6 with the fender flares (a classic), but your right - would have been nice if Porsche continued a higher performance 914, but with the oil embargo in '73 Porsche had to produce a more economically viable 914. Thanks again and hope you enjoy some of our stuff on our YT channel - CheeRS

My first time finding this channel. Some really odd hater comments here. I guess I'll stick around for a while to see if any of them are deserved. Lol. I love the color, and it seems like this guy is getting undeserved hate. I am curious how tall feel about the removal and install of the top. Seems to be pretty unanimous that's the top absolutely sucks to remove and install. 😅

Hey @helimx - thanks for checking out our channel and we are the new kids on the block with only about 4 months under our belt - so appreciate you tuning in. And, yes I'm learning on an open forum like this, your gonna gets knuckleheads that only wanna just make negative comments, but I think on an overall basis we've gotten some wonderful people making some positive comments. The removal and install of the top is really not to bad, I'm sure you've checked out some of the YT videos. The goal for Porsche was light weight (a goal for all RS's) and if I'm correct the top for my 2022 718 Spyder is 30 pounds heavier. The design is really ingenious for Porsche, because it's so simple and with just a few steps the top can be taken on and off with just one person, but 2 people works also. And, just try and ignore those negative thinking people and please continue to check us out - CheeRS

Hey @dfend451 - '...engineering brain power...' yep, there is no greater sportscar manufacture in the World then Porsche!! Ain't nobody does it better then Porsche and a perfect example is the 2024 718 Spyder RS!! It is a perfect example of Porsche's engineering perfection. I'm still in the break-in period, but can't wait to let her run here in the flat, straight and boring roads of South Florida - don't got any canyon roads here, but maybe a run down to the Florida Keyes at 180 mph might get the blood flowing :-) And, ain't no lollipops here - just pure Porsche breed technology - CheeRS

Hey @user-vt9je9jxf4 - thank you so much for your comment and ya, she is pretty sexy - can't wait to get to that 9,000 rpm to hear her scream :-) Yep - and good eye on the color shade difference - the '73 back then, used a Glasurit single stage paint with a clear coat and when she got her only re-painted back in 1991 - we used the same process. Porsche's current technology uses again a Glasurit (manufacture - BASF), but a water based paint or waterborne product - check out their website. So - yes, they're is a shade of difference between the earlier application to the modern day technology - Sepia Brown Porsche paint code 415-9-2 - thanks again - CheeRS

Hey @rodneypratt4324 - and Sepia Brown was first used back in 1969 thru 1973 and a few years ago Porsche brought that color back, thru their PTS (paint to sample) program.
