lyrics: Play us like pawns and relentlessly confined into living up to gender roles and having absent minds Don't you think it's funny how they tell us how to live? Don't you think it's funny how we're all delinquent kids? Like hush now Don't say, Don't say Hush boy, oh hush boy Don't say a word Throw on a jersey and no one gets hurt Hush girl, oh hush girl Just bat your eyes Play our little game Play our little game Bounded all thoughts and corrected common sense You're raising suicidals with your predetermined titles like "a mess", "distressed" "I am unimpressed" "You're excess" "A dress Is all you'll ever be" Gender roles impose control And deceive progressive times Welcome to the land of the broken mind Hush boy, oh hush boy Don't say a word Throw on a jersey and no one gets hurt Hush girl, oh hush girl Just bat your eyes Play our little game Play our little game Hush boy, oh hush boy Don't say a word Throw on a jersey and no one gets hurt Hush girl, oh hush girl Just bat your eyes Play our little game Play our little game We feign opulence just to get by Put on false confidence just to feel alive They cant hurt me anymore There's nothing left to break of me There's nothing left to take from me 'Cause baby it's easy to fake a smile when you've been doing it for a while Baby it's easy to fake a smile when you've been doing it for a while Hush boy, oh hush boy Don't say a word Throw on a jersey and no one gets hurt Hush girl, oh hush girl Just bat your eyes Play our little game Play our little game Hush boy, oh hush boy Don't say a word Throw on a jersey and no one gets hurt Hush girl, oh hush girl Just bat your eyes Play our little game Play our little game Hush boy, oh hush boy Hush girl, oh hush girl Play our little game Play our little game Play our little game Play our little game Play our little game Won't you play with me?

I used to listen to this when I was younger, it helped me a lot as someone who struggled a lot with my gender due to growing up in a fairly sexist community. It's gotten easier with time, but I still struggle with gender issues, and I still come back to this song every now and then because it's comforting

The fact we listened to this song at the ripe age of about 9-11 is sad because looking at reality now this just told our new generations future.

Just wanted to support the original creator of the song real quick, this was written by an artist named Benny. When listening to nightcore, also remember to support the original artists. ❤

I always knew I was gay,but come from a tough fighting Scottish traveller family. My mum always knew,I'm fact I was really bad at hiding it. I'm 44 now,my mum died when I was 33. When I was 36 I just decided to let everyone I knew know. Many were not surprised. What surprised me was none of my cousins and extended family group cared. When I was 16 one of my second cousins got caught missing a guy,he was shipped of to an arranged marriage with a girl. I never knew that at that time my dad,a very hard man, stopped visiting my second cousins family because of the way they turned their backs on him. I got my sister to tell my dad. He wept a little, said he had always suspected then this hard as nails man's "man" said "well, nothing can be done,it's how he is",and accepted it. A few years later when he was dying riddled with cancer he said as far as he was concerned my then and still boyfriend was part of the family. I was very close to my mum but not my dad,I regret it now,I thought I had time, then one day he was,age 71 breaking concrete slabs with a sledgehammer, and ten days later he could hardly stand. A good parent will always love their children. So to anyone worrying about telling them,do it before you leave yourself with regrets.

Well, in your opinion, what are gender roles? For me, they're a certain kind of behaviour that society wants you to show based on a conservative mindset. A role that many people are unable to fit in while still trying to be themselves. (!The following is solely my opinion!) I don't really think gender exists. I think that we have certain types as behaviour and still call them "boyish"/"girlish" when in reality they're just human. To me, feeling connected to a certain gender means simply feeling connected to a certain group of people because even though there is a struggle for equality different genders are still being raised in different manners.

Yes but not force you can do whatever you cannot contro every human in the world its not possible people will question and wonder why things are if you want to marry a man and have kids with him and live a "normal" life ok thats fine but if your not aloud to say no or not to do it then its a problem because everyone's views and lifestyles are different
