Sorry for your loss. I’m not sure that bolt would be the cause of the failure. The force of a car collision is enough sheering strength to cut through the shank, shear off the head, and if hit from an odd angle, strip the threads clean out. I’m picturing myself with an impact and a galvanized 3/4 inch bolt, and a half decent but really maybe a 4 mil thick washer, and bolting the face of the guard rail to the second post. No shot the head of that bolt says on. Either the bolt and washer are strong, and the extruded sheet steel of the rail rips and pulls away, or the head of the bolt and washer shear off. And I understand the difference in torsional strength and shear strength. If anything, these implements should be designed with hardware designed to fail at certain points to help with the collapse/crumple of the barrier.

I don't know who you are responding to but one bolt in the wrong place can jam up the system and send it either through your windshield or over your car.

@@Kaleb99j You read my post. I’ve already explained why that’s not true. I’m talking about the physical dynamics of fasteners. You’re regurgitating Tik-Tok brain rot.

Ohio is sad that they don't have cars stop both ways on a four way road. Most states have it to where both sides have to stop even on a four-lane road unless there is a divider in between. Ohio need to get

This isn’t gonna help the summer traffic at all. It’s only gonna cause complications due to the fact people don’t know how to use them. There irritated already trying to get to the island and they’ll be bumper to bumper not letting people through. This is the worst intersection you could do this to. Whoever planned this isn’t the smartest only gonna make it worse.

Better add a body shop close by. When the tourist's traffic is in full swing this will be a cluster.

I honestly;y do not know what the person who thought this would work was thinking but it will NOT work. Especially at rt 2 and 53 heading towards Fremont Ohio. I know the area well as I used to work in Fremont. In fact, it doesn't even help people out. In fact, it adds a major inconvenience to the area. Plus from what I saw of how it is supposed to be placed it encroaches on someone's land. Heck If semis have problems with the one in Fremont they will here as well and so will the people with boats. In fact, it may even hurt the local economy.

I understand the usefulness of the roundabout at SR 53 and State St. I do not understand the need for the roundabout at the ramps. There is no "turning", all you are going to do is possibly backup traffic onto SR2. There is already a signal at State street - so people are already used to slowing down for that. In reviewing the "Study" I note that there was not an option listed to just have the Roundabout at State St, and just add ramp improvements/signing. You could save a significant amount removing that roundabout. Also the radius of the seems small for the number of truck/trailer combos going through that roundabout.

Okay, I see the roundabout at SR-53 and E State Rd, and I see half of a dumbbell interchange from SR-2. What does this mean for the bottom half of the interchange? Will it be left as is or will there be another roundabout on that side? If so the latter, will that mean Catawba Rd and E Kirk Rd will be connected via this dumbbell interchange? Between the area shown here and Tiffin, Ohio, how many more roundabouts are proposed for SR-53 (Just out of curiosity)? If you’d like a suggestion from me regarding SR-53, maybe a diverging diamond interchange to SR-53 from US-20 in Fremont, OH (Exit 101)?

Now that I think about McCord Rd before the underpass and roundabout, I bet it relieved a lot of traffic on Reynolds Rd and Airport Hwy, since Reynolds would’ve been the nearest underpass at the time to get around the trains! Residents of Holland/Springfield Township nowadays can access the Springfield school district and the businesses in Spring Meadows with ease! As I drive through the area regularly, I even forget the underpass and roundabout were built 5 years ago (Pretty recent IMO)!

Can you provide some information on the camera set up you use, i.e. camera brand, light source, mount and pole, etc. Would love to have a set up such as this to inspect our culverts in Madison County, TN. Do you utilize a laptop to view, or can you use a mobile device via bluetooth such as a cell phone or tablet? Thanks in advance for any info you can provide! - Bart Walls, Madison County Highway Department in Jackson, TN

Tell that to the TPD and OSHP officers that are exceedingly seen driving 15-20 mph over constantly on these same roads and in the same construction zones with no emergency. No one cares to slow down anymore because 75, 475 and 280 have been under constant construction at some point for the last eight years. It is more dangerous when it becomes bumper to bumper in these zones because two cars are driving side by side doing less than the posted speed limit.
