Man, I wish this video was around when I bought the board for mine... I knew my board died so I got a replacement in, which isn't cheap at like $75cad the lowest I found. Didn't think the board would also take out the speaker on the same side as it. Looking at some prices on ebay, I'm not sure I'm wanting to spend another $60-70 anymore.

Possibly, take it apart and look for corrosion or a broken wire, these are the easiest fixes.

in your experience is it possibe to mod the headset in a way that keeps the NC and have a boom mic added to the headset? I am a trucker, love Sony but in my experience the built in mic is not good
@darkwarrior4782 күн бұрын
You might be able to ajust the volume in settings using the sony connect application, take a look, you possibly could ad a boom mic but it would be a bit of work to locate and install, there are quite a few sony or other makes that have boom mics already.

Just fixed my WH-1000XM4s that had been broken for six months. Replaced the left cup mount. I was recommended by your video and from what I've seen - I don't want to upgrade to the XM5.... With the fourth line at least you can change almost everything without tools and the headphones will be as good as new. Great video!

Most of the headphones on the market get broken at the pivots or sliders, just a tip for you, leaving them on the couch or somewhere a pet can chew on them does not help either.
@Emanuel-sla-h5iАй бұрын
Would it be possible to first use tweezers to get inside the wire, before cutting it, and then split open the sheath in order to get the wires to fan out? What I mean is that you could slowly remove a section of the outer layer exposing the still connected wires inside. Then you can cut the wires diagonally and use size to help with matching the wires back together. Like you did in the other video you have for this procedure. Also, THANK YOU!!!! All these clips are amazingly useful!
@darkwarrior478Ай бұрын
You can do this several different ways but so far this one is the best I have found, it hides the repair and keeps it safe, once you get used to the wire colors it is not too bad but be aware that sony did change the colors somewhere along the way on a revision i suspect, you can also just continuity test each wire to make sure you dont mess it up.

is it possible to disassemble the connector instead of soldering? I don't have a solder and i can't find connectors like that where i live
@darkwarrior4783 ай бұрын
Yes, it is absolutely possible but if you break one of the very tiny locks that hold the individual wire connector in place then you have to come up with a different plan, the way I solder them there is no issues, it is done and I can not break anything in the process unless I am very harsh taking them apart or reassembling them. Keep in mind that in order to see what you are doing you will need a microscope of some kind or magnifying glasses, just a thought from me.

Yes, that is always an option, I have done it quite a few different ways to find the best, it does not take long to replace the connector if you have extra but breaking the tiny tabs is a real pain, I have found it saves me time to just cut harness and solder together.

It was still working great however when it turned low battery, it won’t charge anymore. The yellow light is not showing. I press the power button long enough to reset it, but it just won’t light up anymore too since then. Please I’m begging you, I just got this headphone not too long ago and idk what to do. I tried contacting Sony but idk where to get the 8 digit number in the headphone. There’s numbers on the left side of the headphone but it not any of them. Please help kindly sir.

Lets address the chocolate milk thing first, sugar in chocolate milk will coat the charging port and short it, it likely also got into the board area and corroded that as well. Send them to us and we can repair them, information in the more section above.

Part of my headset broke. What is the best hard plastic adhesive
@darkwarrior4784 ай бұрын
Hard plastic, do not use super glue of any kind it just makes a mess, you are better off using a hot iron or even a soldering iron and remelt the plastic, practice on something else first and use a filter box fan or very good ventilation as you dont want to breath the fumes, once you get it figured out you will be able to plastic weld with the best of them, after doing this you can use fingernail file or sand paper to smooth it out, paint also if you like.

Don't cut and soldier wires in hinge, use a extreme sharp needle. Push on corner of perpendicular section
@kashyap19914 ай бұрын
Can you brief out more would be good for all
@darkwarrior4783 ай бұрын
I think what he is trying to say is using a very small needle you can lift the locks on the harness connector but again this is very tedious and if you break them its game over, It is honestly not that difficult to solder the wires, have done literally thousand of the wires now and it is very easy now after doing that many.

do you know how to repair the bluetooth? it completely disconnects from my phone and app and turns off after a minute of playing but when i use the aux it works fine but without the boosted bass and noise canceling. i thought it was water damaged from sweat but the speaker work fine with the aux cord.
@darkwarrior4785 ай бұрын
I have honestly never ran into one that the bluetooth did not work on, are you using the sony application? I would verify your phone does not have issues like maybe clean all the old stuff you connected via bluetooth in your bluetooth devices, try cleaning that first, the main board carries the bluetooth so you might want to look it over after purging old devices, try it on another phone also.

@darkwarrior4785 ай бұрын
That is why I repair it the way I do, removing the pins from the connector is very tedious, not to say it can not be done but in my opinion is just as likely to break a catch on the socket for the wire as anything, I have done this myself, you usually can find a company that sells the parts to get one from, I have a bunch so send me an email and I can send you one.
