I ended up also making ramps out of "gym mat". I bought 4' x 4' of 8mm mat for $60. These were thin enough to cut with a utility knife. I stacked them up four layers, so 32mm total height. They definitely help, but not perfect. My garage floor is very slick and the mats are not very sticky. Sometimes the car "slips" when the tire crosses from the mat to the ramp, and then it can kick the mat out of the way. I removed the rollers from the ramps which helped to bring them closer to the floor, but I might also try adding some velcro tape on the front edge of the metal to give the tire something to grip (or maybe I'll make my rubber ramps taller, like in Alfi's video). I think that these lifts would be better if they came with an option for a longer ramp. P.S. if you're in a pinch, you can use the short rubber blocks that come with the lift as a quick "ramp". It worked for me while I was waiting for my mats to arrive. It's a bit scary when you're car is stuck straddling a lift!
@AlfisGarageАй бұрын
@@terrencethorsen thanks for your insight! Maybe you can try to glue some thin rubber on the bottom of your gym mat - that maybe be less slippery? Anyway, I know what you mean when the car is stuck on the lift - once mine was stuck as I removed the rubber mat from underneath the lift as it got wet (I let it dry because wanted to avoid mold) I drove the car on the lift, but couldn’t drive it off, because it was dragging the lift over the garage floor, as the front wheels couldn’t go up on the platform - even though I had these ramps. The floor was simply too slippery.

I bought a similar lift, also from China. Mine has the movable arms to locate on the lifting points of the car, the only downside with mine is it's difficult to do anything on the centre of the car whereas yours is open. I also think my type can accommodate larger vehicles and perhaps spreads the load better. I find it perfect for everyday repairs such as oil changes, brakes, cleaning and painting. I also made an MDF top for mine so that I could work on the tractor mower and my motorbikes. I run straps from the roof beams and around the handle bars which make fork servicing real easy. Perfect bit of kit.

@AlfisGarage2 ай бұрын
Hey, that's a good question - I think electric cars are pretty much balanced with 50/50 weight, so it probably does not matter much which way you drive them on. In terms of lifting them - I don't see why not. I think Model X is about 2500kg, while the lift is rated at 3500kg. My M5 is about 2000kg and the lift has no issues with it.

@AlfisGarage2 ай бұрын
@@ramyarakram3257 these are quantity compensation numbers - each injetor is slightly different and delivers slightly different amount of fuel. The DME uses this number to compensate for the characteristics of each injector. You will find the numbers written on the injectors - its the last three digits at the end of the injector after the part number. You write down the numbers on old injectors, just to verify if its matching what is in the DME, but you don’t necessarily need the old numbers. You need the new numbers and given each injector is different, you need to know which injector is in which cylinder, so you program it in the correct cylinder in DME.
