No question Nord has the best samples. Unfortunately, the Fatar keybed is prone to breakdowns. My new Piano 5 (same keybed as Nord 6) has been in repair for two months. At least 3 keys (some of the more frequently played above middle C) have lost their ability to accurately recognize a variety of velocity levels, defaulting to the loudest sample with only medium pressure. This makes it unplayable in performance or recording. Most disappointing.

Hi why does my white grand not sound as good as yours? I'm using the red nord monitors. Is that thecproblem?
@grandpianord9 күн бұрын
Hi Rexsplace, The first thing I'd check is the size of the sample that your WhiteGrand is downloaded in your piano library memory. There's another video where I explained how I manage that and which Grand Pianos samples I choose in XL size. Secondly, make sure the output you use is the L&R channels rather than headphones. Equally, check the conditions are the same, i.e. are you listening to my videos on high resolutions speakers or headphones while your piano listen to monitor speakers? Once you've gone through all the above, only then you can deduct if something doesn't add up.

I’m very curious to know if there is any significant upgrades to the keybed. It mentions a “ premium “ triple sensor but I wonder if it’s truly much different than the P5 ?

Hi Jason, Indeed, that's something worth assessing as except for the keybed, I struggle to see any real reasons to upgrade from NP5 to NP6. Asa I get to play NP6, I will update you.

Looking fwd to Pt.2 I have the NS3 88 but rarely if ever use the organs and was thinking of getting the P6 88 instead of the NS4 88 -we’ll see
@grandpianord14 күн бұрын
Hi Carl, As a pianist, I rarely use the organ and if needed, it's there as well on NP, however, with less customisation available. Obviously the versatility and creating unique sounds capability of Nord Stage is clearly few classes higher to Nord Piano series when it comes to pads/synth section. I've been playing a Nord Stage EX and although the customisation is admirable, for me, I found myself ending up back to piano sound selection as main layer with subtle pads on top of it. In this case, I decided to go for the Nord Piano series. The question for me was the Grand an option vs Nord Piano and due to size and weight limitation as I have a small living room, I had to go with the Nord Piano. I still believe it was the wiser choice between the two after more than couple of Ys.
@carlgrainger266914 күн бұрын
@ One day I wish I could say I was a pianist but as of now I’m still on a seemingly life-long journey of self tuition, inching forward weekly 😂 I too had the Nord Stage 2 EX 88 eventuality letting it go (great resale value) & making up the relative small difference at the time to my current NS3. Do I need a Stage? Absolutely not 😂 and certainly YES 😜 as it wants to make me play daily if that makes sense. I’ve put off moving to the NS4 for a year already - the P6 comes at an interesting time (along with many of the differences between the NS3 and NS4). It’s good to hear you’re happy with your NP 👍🏻

Update to the video as of July 2024: I did go to a music store and played the Nord Stage 4 and I can confirm there's little difference in terms of action between Nord Stage 4 and Nord Piano 5, i.e. as a pianist it brings no benefit to go with NP series if you have the budget, as the Nord Stage 4's keybed is as good, if not better than the Nord Piano 5's keybed.

All these headphones I bought them myself and as best practice I do Not recommend something until I've owned it myself for enough time to provide as objective feedback as possible to others. I didn't buy AKG K271, therefore, since I didn't test it, I cannot comment on how it sounds compared to K371 or the others. Will leave that decision to you. It sounds nice actually, I was pleasantly surprised but it does way 20 KG and I perform on stage. Anything above 20 KG is a no go. Also, you play very well. I noticed one thing I think this Nord uses a synthesizer. Here is a test bro. Hold down the C key without any pedals and the. Hit any key say F. I notice that there is a longer from the previous note when you play, not your fault it’s a design flaw. That is what happens when you use a synthesizer. Only Yamaha uses hammer weighted so it’s not a synthesizer it mimicked an acoustic piano.

I too have struggled deciding between the MP11SE, Fantom8, and Grand. In my research I came to the same conclusions as you, my favorite sound was Nords White Grand or the new Soft Grand, best keybed MP11SE, and Fantom for all the added features to grow into. Weight and size doesn’t matter to me as I have no intention of gigging, and sounds are less important I think because I also like a lot of the VSTs out there like Keyscape, Noire, Alicias Keys. So because of all of that I have been more torn between Fantom8 with the same PHA50 keybed as the RD2000, and the MP11SE. I really want to choose the MP11SE, but I just feel it’s old and in line for an update soon. Now this new Grand 2 has my curiosity piqued getting the RH3 keybed and the Nord Sounds is hard to pass up.

@grandpianord10 ай бұрын
Thank you, Jonathan. I believe I've shared how I configure the touch settings in a different video comments. In general is in Medium and that was the setting for this video as well. Can I ask back why does it matter or what was that you had in mind that would require to know the setting for the touch? Thanks,
@JanoStudios10 ай бұрын
@@grandpianord I always see your soft touch, and I try to do it with the same touch that I see in your videos, and I couldn't achieve the same dynamic. I come from Yamaha CP1, and I had gotten used to that touch, in Nord I have to make a little more effort. I normally play on HEAVY, to be able to better control the softer nuances of the performance. But when I need to get more Fortissimo, it's already a bit difficult for me, and I feel like I'm mistreating the keys. I feel more comfortable in MEDIUM generally, because I feel like I don't abuse the keyboard much, but for the softer nuances, I feel like I can't control them much either. That's why my question was in another video about the Rev B with DYN COMP, if it would have a lot of influence in this aspect.
@grandpianord10 ай бұрын
@@JanoStudios I'm with you Jonathan and I agree that Heavy allows to go softer but it requires much more strength to get the forte (or even more for ff). Probably, the Medium should've been between Heavy and what Medium is now. Another thing that you won't get on a stage piano, at least I can confirm it isn't on Nord Piano 5 (I'm still to test it on the Nord Grand 2) is NP5's action ability to do a 'drop roll'. Play it on an accoustic grand you will see the difference in the sound. Play it on NP5, there's no difference. I've played a Yamaha (hybrid, not the stage piano) and they've got it in there.
