...a tight brass ensemble (plus percussion) playing a powerful tune...then a middle mellow brass choir...a great arrangement

I'm play cornet in a Training Band, and it's so inspiring to hear this tune played by one of the best brass bands, as we're learning it at the moment. I play along with this recording at home; I'm not note perfect but it gives me something to aim for.

Siniset rakuunat kuului aikoinaan Pohjois-Satakunnan laulujuhlilla puhallinorkesterien soittokappaleisiin. Laulujuhlien myötä nuotit kulkeutuivat myös ko. alueen soittokuntien juhlaohjelmistoon.

Beautiful solos, especially the theme from Some Enchanted Evening on euphonium. Classic taut, solid band sound, balance a bit off but that sounds like a recording problem. Magic!

Indeed regarded with much affection by me from my youth as a trombonist. I grew up and play the harp, which is pretty difficult to get that degree of fun out of.

Probably my favourite tuba solo for brass band and brilliantly played . I have the album somewhere and am I right in thinking he actually composed it as well ? The Floral Dance album actually got to number 4 in the album charts and bearing in mind we had Lps such as Rumours by Fleetwood Mac , Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and Bat Out of Hell around that period , that was some achievement . Thanks for the upload !

1980's. Brighouse booked for a Concert to follow a Rugby Club President's Farewell Dinner. Apparently, in his youth, he'd played trombone. He often wished he could play this piece and, via the Club Secretary, asked if the Band could play it as a "Special Request". Fortunately, in the "travelling library", Copies existed, so the Trombone Section then discussed who had last played it ! Seemed 'twas the Bass Trombone Player ! So the Tune was Performed, but as the final notes were "pedaled", his over-extended silde detached ! The Band held the Chord as the Instrument was repaired, the Audience laughing and applauding loudly as THEY thought it was part of the Performance !

I love this piece of music. I belonged to a brass band from the age of 12 - 23 yrs playing 1st Tenor Horn and remember playing this. I find it really emotional listening to it again as it brings back loads of lovely memories. Thank you.
