😢😢😢"Chinatown!!" ... what DISGRACE! TRINIDAD has lost it's unique identify. Why do we need to call it "Chinatown"...!? is this New York?! 99% of the historical buildings have never been looked after since Independence and now they are almost non existent or ...gone! and replaced by hideous architecture!The place looks like a dirty, gang inhabited ghetto with residents boarded up in their homes in what WAS once attractive open and friendly , safe neighborhoods!The only redeeming features of Trinidad are the beautiful nature spots and birds... Hope these won't be destroyed too.... 😢

Please say Johnny Cakes instead of fry dumpling. In the fifties, when I was a child, that was its name. .Years ago, I saw johnny cakes for breakfast, mentioned in a Jamaican tourist guide. And it does sound a lot better.

I did not know they were called that. Good to know. I don't think I tried them, though. I ended up only having the original boiled ones.

Ackee actually came from Africa but Africans don't eat it. A friend of mine married an African and he went to Africa and saw Ackee so, he went and picked some to cook and everyone in the village was watching him thinking he was crazy. Lol
@travel_with_phil14 күн бұрын
😂 😂 😂 This is actually very funny and true about a lot of other things. I was in other Caribbean islands and they said some of the things they eat or drink are from Africa but we don't really eat/drink them back home. I think some of the things have fallen away in African Cultures and Cuisines but in the Caribbeans they remained.

Paying for the beach that how thay keep the place clean
@selvinlinton14 күн бұрын
Jamaica has more beaches than people so if there is no fee for some of them the government would not be able to keep them at high standards. Please don’t bring your local understanding to my country. I watched enough videos of very young children in Kenya who are homeless on the street. We don’t have any such issue in Jamaica. Every country chooses what it prioritize because in the end what a country prioritize is always a tradeoff. It is nothing personal but I hear too many foreigners especially Africans making this same commentary over and over again. It is especially annoying when more than 99 percent of the Beaches in Jamaica are free and the fees for using beaches were not set up to keep local out but instead set up so tourists who by the way major foreign currency contributors to Jamaica economy and locals can coexist. I find it interesting how you don’t mention how locals only pay half price of what foreigners pay to access many local attractions which is a win for local Jamaicans. Most countries in the world don’t offer their local population such perks

Welcome home 🇰🇪! I ❤ seeing Motherland visitors here and ❤ to hear your thoughts on our island. I've noticed that our Motherland visitors are often turned off by having to pay for beach access. I'm sure you understand that tourism is our largest foreign exchange earner and beaches require security, cleaning and other maintenance. People must be paid to do that work.
@travel_with_phil15 күн бұрын
Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed myself in Jamaica❤️. When you put it like that, it actually makes sense, I didn't think of it like that. I guess we find it unusual because in the majority of other countries, the beaches are free to access, and so it is odd when you have to pay.
