That's the right speed for learning tremolo. The correct speed will come slowly if you keep practising it.

@@johnlay3040 oh I do! I leave the fascination with speed and competition to those who confuse arts with patriarchal sports. I did work hard on speed to please my dear teacher, Gilbert Biberian, while he was alive, but it really isn't my thing. This world needs more gentleness and kindness and less competitive one-upping behaviour. You learn what counts by the age of 68.

@janedarcey4333 Please don't get me wrong. I am not by any means confused between the speed in sport and art. Recuerdos does need to be played at a certain speed to get its beauty out.

That is so kind. There are strong feelings there - it was the last piece I was working on with Maestro Biberian before he left us in January, 2023. He never got to hear the final version.

Beautiful playing. Might I ask about the beautiful guitar you are playing here? : Maker, woods, age, etc.
@janedarcey43332 ай бұрын
Hello, Thank you for your kind comments. The guitar is by Andres De Jager, made in Perth, Western Australia. It is the last instrument that he finished and is dated 1987. Spruce top (he always seasoned his own wood), Brazilian rosewood back and sides.

Ricardo Iznaola has a video available and Denian and Raymond Burley are about to make a CD of music by Gilbert Biberian which will include the Four Waltzes. There is a lot of other brilliant music by Biberian that has neither been performed nor recorded. I have just completed a Masters on his life and work. Contact me via facebook (Jane Rigden) if you want to know more.
