My pilot is on, I feel warmth close to the fireplace, but no "visible" flames apart from the pilot. That's even with max flames settings.

This is not what the product looks like in reality! The metal burner is far more visible. Very disappointed that we were up sold to this model, which feels like a clear downgrade compared to the normal full view models.

My mendota direct vent is best purchase I made to remodeling my House . It's very energy efficient and heats up my family room kitchen very quickly.

The remotes, the receivers, the pilots...everything constantly needs replacing. We ordered two Mendotas and both had to have the brains switched out, the remotes replaces, the receivers replaced and we are still chasing its mechanisms. Inconsistent and painful. They do not support their products either. Save your money, time and effort buy ANYTHING ELSE but Mendota.

Really wish Mendota, or any fireplace sellers, would also show a walk around the frame of the fireplace itself as if you're walking in the room. Its always 95% close up of logs, but nothings of the fireplace as a whole! I want to see it in a room without having to drive an hour to the closest dealer!

Not shown in this video but what irks me is seeing the light at the top of the fireplace. Paying this much money they should be able to do something better than seeing a light bulb at the top. The effect of the light is good just not wanting to see a light bulb.

Baloney - this is not an excellent fireplace. My DXV45 doesn't operate anything like this picture - not even close. I don't have the sooty build-up problem, but I have had something much worse. From day one it had a problem with delayed ignition. You hit "on" and it sits there - 10 seconds later and there a large boom as the propane ignites. I also had a burned through thermocouple - this should have been replaced when the unit was converted from NG to propane, but it wasn't. Which is really the source of my many problems - untrained installers. The installers of these units don't know how to make them work like the unit in this nice video. There are many mistakes that can be made and, as in my case were made, when installing the unit. I've had three "technicians" trying to sort this fireplace; all were incompetent. I finally gave up. I don't like messing with gas but I tore the box apart and put it back together (with the proper thermocouple and a new thermopile) meticulously following the Mendota manual. It still starts less quickly than it should, but at least I got rid of the overpressure "boom" from excessive gas building. No matter how I adjust it I cannot get the licking flame effect or much in the way of glowing embers. My conclusion is this is a so-so design... a problematic and expensive unit that I've never been happy with. No more Mendota fireplaces for me!

This is an excellent top of the line fireplace. The person below needs to have someone else take a look at it. If it is always sooting up it can be several different things that need to be looked at. Log placement, air shutter adjustment, venting, etc.

We just had this unit installed in our home. Our dealer (Stoveworks in Medford, NJ) was amazing through the entire process. They were very knowledgeable in regards to all their products, especially the Mendota lines. We spent a little more than we had planned, but so far, I have no doubt it was worth every penny. Their installer was fantastic to work with and was incredibly professional. My wife and I both grew up with wood burning stoves and fireplaces, and we both agree this is about as realistic looking as we've seen. Easy to use, and looks amazing! We're looking forward to enjoying this fireplace for along time to come.

the front sensor its nothing but trouble

Very disappointed in our DXV45 Fireplace. Front glass soots up after nearly every burn. Impossible to keep clean. Very expensive showpiece that looks like a big, sooty distraction in our LR. Know 2 other owners with same problem. Dealer is not willing/able to solve problem. Also, pilot light cannot be adjusted to low setting, so fuel usage for pilot alone is very excessive, wasteful, and expensive. Seriously flawed Fireplace. Don't waste your +/- $10K including install. High price does not buy quality or practicality. Junk, in my opinion.

Beware with Mendota here. When I had a problem with my fireplace I tried to contact them through their website and could only E-MAIL them. Once they got my e-mail, they refused to call me to troubleshoot...would only e-mail back and forth and back and forth. The fact that I could not get a single phone call after numerous requests tells you that this is a company that doesn't have much pride in their product! I will NOT purchase another Mendota product, for sure!

Mendota makes a nice fireplace, for sure, but try calling their tech. department and you'll find they will NOT talk to you by phone. They will only e-mail you back and forth, back and forth...how foolish is that? I asked for a simple call back and they refused...told me to call my local dealer. I will NEVER purchase another Mendota fireplace...very unhappy with this!
