Why does all the information about the Virginia creeper with the purple berries say it's highly poisonous to humans and animals???

Thanks for this! I love these trees. They grow without any challenges in our downtown in North Carolina. We bought two and planted them in a garden in Tennessee, South Facing sun. They are struggling. We planted them last fall and this summer they don't look great. We self-watered so no drip line this could be one reason they are not happy. But what we are also wondering is if they are getting TOO much sun? Do they do better as an understory planting? We have them in between our blueberries SOUTH facing. Also, wondering what we organic material we should use to fertilize them? Much appreciation!

Sometimes this might happened if there was shady weather for like 3+ days and then after that you have shiny days with direct sunlight , this will cause massive heat stress too. Struggling with this issue at this moment

The water must run out of the pot as soon as you pour it into the pot. Have drainage holes on the sides of your pot instead of at the bottom.

Virginia we use for cattle. I definitely like it for open spaces that would have patchy grass. It is drought tolerant stays green and apparently does not need nitrogen. Cows love it when it is young and because it spreads rise, I don’t see what is going to outcompete this. I feel bad for corn farmers, but for people that have an open tract of space, it’s a pretty good cover and it allows birds and wildlife to kind of hide in it and move around with it much much more than fescue

I have no idea how you were not stuck by that guy. The pain caused by the toe biter is absolutely painful. I'm glad it didn't stick ya full of venom. Folks, if you see these critters - DO NOT PICK THEM UP.

I've been told many times that stink bugs don't bite, but the reason why they are one of my biggest fears is because they are terrifying and they are unaware of what is in front of them, making them easier to land on you. Of stink bugs didn't fly, I would be less scared of them.

Im walking through an area in Chicago with my 10yo daughter and we just saw this plant. I did a search and found your video and it was PERFECT. We learned a lot and since the plant is right in front of us and we are touching it. I think we’ll always remember. Thank you for posting!

I have observed that in my area the oaks that are dying are in lawns and my theory is the annual application of herbicide might be playing a role. I have yet to come across an oak in the wild that is dying all are healthy with dark green leaves.

There needs to be two worms to create a viable cocoon even though they are hermaphrodites. Any cocoon produced will be sterile.

I was getting rid of a Oriental bittersweet pulling out the vines and as I was looking for stuff to pull out I came across a lot of -- what I later discover to be -- Virginia creeper. It's amazing how long the roots can be when you pull them up. Dozens of feet even. Interesting to know that they're native and provide plans for the lovely birds. I am a bird fan. I need to decide how seriously I want to try to control the growth of this stuff. I've been pulling it off my mom's pool fence for years

My wild amaranth seems to not get much herbivory at all, but cultivated is really hard. Are the wild amaranths you find as a 'weed' a different species, or just less attractive/more resistant to pigweed flea beetles?

It's possible to use specific frequencies to repel bugs via sound waves, unfortunately I don't know which ones work, but considering bugs have ears of sorts it would work Though you would need to find the right tone to repel each kind of bug

I agree with the comments below. They're native, beautiful and help support our wildlife. They are the host plant for fritillary butterflies and their leaves are sustenance for other wildlife. In a lawn with clover, they stay both green when the turf grass can't handle the hot, dry times of summer. If we can't reduce our lawns, we should look for ways to make it more sustainable. Please leave the violets.
