What paint and color name did you use on the exterior? It would be great if you would list the products you use and maybe even links. Thank you.

Out of all the videos I’ve seen yours is by far the best thank you so much for sharing your craft. I’m in Washington state and I wouldn’t mind having someone restore my two trunks. I don’t have the tools or the space to do it myself.

THANK YOU. I'm buying this 1896 trunk that will need a restoration, and I was very daunted by the idea of removing all the hardware and possibly damaging it. But I'll just leave it on and do what you have done!

Greetings! We have several trunks and we want to refinish. What solvent do you prefer to clean outside leather? If leather handles and straps are missing, what do you use? This piece looks great. Great work

Could you tell us what the Deft lacquer was used for? Did you use it in conjunction with the green stain? Or on the leather? Also, What oil & solvent?🤔

Thanks for doing this video. I recently got into dough making and i see a lot of the old timers using a wood box to make rhe dough in. It looks similiar to this. I have a mitre saw so think i can make one :)

Great video, but I hesitated with the thumbs up. Why? Because you showed all the processes on camera, but did not tell us how to do them - techniques, things to watch out for, handy hints and so on. I watched your video to find out how to cut the mitre angles, but you don’t explain it. Oh, I want to make a larger version for mixing dough. Will there be problems with the base expanding and contracting when you have glued it in?

Hi, I am wanting to make something similar to this, just using the sides & top to hold a row of LED lights. My problem is I can't find a table saw with a 55 degree bevel, only up to 45 degrees. I don't actually care whether it is 45 or 55, but can it be done with a 45 degree bevel, in that case what would the angle of the mitre be ? Thanks a lot.

I married in the mid 70s and we purchased a 2nd hand bedroom suite, art deco style veneer (no inlays or fancy veneers). It was very dark so we oaint3d it canary yellow. And then i crocheted a yellow abd white afghan bedspread. Still had it in 1988. Dont know what happened to either of them after that. Australia.

What if you wanted to replace the leather straps? Would you have to remove the rivets and replace those too? Would it cause too much damage?

Thanks! Looks great. I just bought the same trunk and someone in the FB trunk group said that;s not leather around the edges but a compressed fiber / fake leather. It sure holds up well so that's a good thing.

Any ideas on how to remove the handle hardware that is nailed on? The metal is thin and there are 3 small nails for each piece. I would like to try and save them. 😊

I have a trunk from my father in law. He was in the army and traveled with this trunk throughout his whole career. He retired as a Brigadier General and traveled a lot in his career. It is well over 100 years and I want to restore it so it can stay in our flat. What were the varnishes you used pleased?

Unfortunately I can’t see your product list as KZbin allows me to see only the top or newest comments. Would you mind reposting them for me? Thanks so much for amazing help and inspiration to get going with restoring our family steamer trunk. Ours first saw service when my husband’s grandfather was a musician aboard the Canadian Pacific cruise liners in the 1920s. Now it’s battered and bruised but your video encourages me to preserve the best of it for our descendants.
