Yeahh. Those thermo 12volt fridges are not efficient at all, they use a peltier chip which is using a lot of power. A compressor type is way more efficient and most have a thermostat that will turn the unit off when the set temperature is reached.

There is one thing you forgot to mention....... A inverter will use power when the inverter is turned on, even if there is no load hooked up to it. My inverter for example is using 40 watts when turned on and no load is applied. A modified sine wave inverter is using more power in standby mode than a full-sine-wave inverter.

I'm just wondering if the price of the system is worth the savings. It seems like you have to dish out 6000 to 10,000$ for a system. Figuring an electric bill of 100$ a month that would be 1200 a year. Seems like it would take about 8 years to get paid off, by then you'll be replacing some parts and battery's so then you start over. Correct me if I'm wrong

Niko grossenbacher Did you get any rebates for buying your system? I've been thinking about trying to save money, but it will be hard for me to come up with the initial money for solar panels. I feel better about it now that you said the other components will last longer than 20 years. I figure if you can get double your investment it'll be worth it. I have a house and will probably need a bigger system so I'm hoping I can figure out a way to get a deal

I'm a solar installer and these panels are to close to the roof they have no ventilation so your watts go down because of voltage drop due to the heat
