Yes sir... We have 3 air conditioners, 2 large refrigerators, 1 large freezer and it still runs all of the ceiling fans, lights, etc. We do turn off one of the A/C units if we use the oven, toaster, microwave or dishwasher.

Looks like you were setup for Hurricane Berly. Any updates on how things went with our local power outage? I survived with solar power packs And EcoFlo and a Jackery. I’m now adding a DuroMax generator to use in conjunction with my batteries. Just had a 50 AMP installed.

How far away is the generator from your house? They recommend 20-25 feet for safety reasons due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Is it any different if you’re only using natural gas?

It is only about 5 feet away because I don't have enough room for it to be ruther away.

I definitely don't want to steer you in the wrong direction, because I'm not a pro. I will say that it said nothing about groundng the machine in the manual of the generator. My guess is no, it does not need to be grounded but to be certain you might want to reach out to the company (DuroMax).

@@SWEATYJARHEAD.78 I believe this unit is neutral grounded to the frame. I’m no expert either, but it’s what I read.

It depends on how you are using the generator. If directly wired to your home via 4-wire then no need to ground because in this config you are tapped into your home ground. If only using an extension cord plugged into the generator to power an appliance, the generator should be grounded.

@@SWEATYJARHEAD.78 It does have a ground location right of the 220 plug. I have same unit set up the same for my house. I run a copper wire to a ground rod. You can never have enough grounds.

Are you certain a licensed electrician installed your generator inlet? As others have mentioned, a simple interlock is required by electrical code for safety. Safety from you accidentally having both breakers on which could destroy your DuroMax, but also safety for linemen working on downed power lines. In addition to being dangerous for linemen, it's not uncommon that you might be sharing a transformer with some of your neighbors in which case you'll be trying to back-feed them with power on the secondary side of the transformer as well. Please, if you haven't already, install a $30 interlock on your panel.

Yes, sir. I should have waited until he installed that part before I made the video, he came back that same day and put the piece on the breaker panel.

i imagine that gas line is a 1/2" line right? to which your generator gas hose is a matching 1/2"? right?

I bought a Duromax and it would not start up on gas, liquid gas. Tried and tried. I sent it back and bought a Champion.

And the main breaker interlock is where? Was this inspected? As an electrician of 30 years,this doesn't look safe to me. What if someone who isn't well versed on the sequence forgets about the main breaker and the poor lineman goes to reconnect the line and is electrocuted? PLEASE put an interlock on there!

He had to order it. Two times they delivered the wrong size. He did finally receive the correct size and now it is safely installed.
