Basically, these are like the BR Class 210 DEMU, two were built but the idea was not taken forward as deemed too expensive, we got Pacers and Sprinters instead.... These are similar to the Southern DEMU types as well.....

I hope those gold (and silver ) routies were among those saved. Weren't London olympians actually Titans ? Slightly different build I believe.

They delay an arrival from London form a pilot and an LE class 47 ! WTF ! It always seem to be the around this time you were delayed outside Norwich station awaiting a platform !
@Sam_Green____4114Күн бұрын
The 31 hauled train at the beginning was from Birmingham I reckon ! The Pilot came onto it to haul the coaches back so it could run around !

Bathgate wasn't 'wired' in 1995 so probably Mossend for the car train.
@stevenbrykajlo54092 күн бұрын
Nice video. Just to add to this, this probably will be an empty car train from Bathgate. There was an ad hoc RfD service during 1995 from Washwood Heath/Crewe to Bathgate which was Class 90 hauled on the WCML to/from Millerhill via Waverley, then tripped to/from Bathgate from there with whatever diesel loco (usually a borrowed Transrail Class 37) was sitting spare at Millerhill.

How comes you have to test the Westinghouse brake at Kenton. Are there any other stations you have to do it and if so why? (I believe the others are Harlesden, Kilburn Park and Lambeth North) I might be wrong.
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus3 күн бұрын
The Westinghouse is a fail-safe back-up to the electric EP brake. The rules state it must be used at the penultimate stop on each journey. The 72 stock is the last passenger stock to use such a system, when it was used system wide, the Circle Line and any shuttle services (Epping-Ongar or Chesham branch) it must be used once an hour.....

@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbusThanks. I have seen those and they bring back memories. There was an old bus video from the 1990s where there appeared to be quite a bit of filming inside the shed at West Ham around the changes to route 5 to Titan in 1985/6 but I don't know who actually did the filming. There was apparently further filming on the depot in its final days in Oct 1992.

My dad spent 38 years working for London Underground first as a cleaner on the buses and then on London Underground and then driving the underground trains and then TFL then as a private contractor health and safety officer and protection master on London Underground through a contractor and he used to have the red London Underground vans to drive in the beginning , I also remember when these buses and the Leyland Titans and Olympians and the Routemasters were in service and riding on them, thank you for the memories.

Great footage! How much were home video cameras back in 1988? I think they may have been around £999. Which is equivalent to £3360 in today's money!
@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus7 күн бұрын
More than that for my Panasonic M1! It took full sized E180 VHS tapes, so avoided any transferring of your filming and thus keeping up the quality. The M1 cost £1300.00 but i had to pay on instalments (i was only 19 when i started) which meant it cost around £1760.00!.... But i didn't want to wait to save up, too many old buses and trains were being withdrawn, a fair few of which i captured on video.... happy days!
@RailandBusJourneysAroundtheUK7 күн бұрын
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus They sure were expensive back then! Around £1760 back then is equivalent to around £5915 nowadays! You've sure done an excellent job filming all these much missed long withdrawn trains and buses! Cheers.

Good to see and hear the Cl37 in action on ScotRail - but disappointing to see how litter strewn and weed covered Waverley station is. A definite downward spiral in track maintenenace from the BR 70/80s. A poor introduction to visitors first sight of our capital's main station

Another fab video Soi! I think the 15B’s were discontinued shortly afterwards, around this time a short lived Sunday tourist 150 route from Victoria to Aldgate using 4 Upton RML’s. To think within 8 months of this footage being shot only the 15 at Aldgate would remain crewed! Nowadays the 254 has replaced the Holloway-Aldgate section of 253, and the 15 seems so few and far between (just a PVR of 14!)
