If I was 20 YO and not 80 I would think these people just had terrible bad luck. But the truth is 95% of them drink and do drugs and that is why they are homeless and have health problems. Yes, including the man in the wheel chair that is a common late stage alcoholic symptom/consequence. I can guarantee you that if it were possible to go back through time to when they turned 18 and were healthy you could not talk them out of the life style they chose if your life depended on it. Solve that problem and prevent this from happening to others. But don't waste money and effort on people who not only caused their own problem but will use your charity to accelerate their self destruction. Offer them AA but not free stuff.
