Mangoes are the best. Too bad they are so expensive around here. In PR the town of Mayagüez is known for its mangoes and many houses have mango trees so there are mangoes everywhere.

It was only wind meltingly hot in the direct sun. The shade was actually quite nice because of a good wind! At least on the second day. The first was hotter.

I recommend making notes about where each one comes from because it can be hard to remember where you got each stamp if you can't read the kanji, and sometimes hard to remember even if you CAN read it! Maybe hold up the stamp book and take a picture of the stamp with the shrine or temple you got that stamp at in the background :)

I agree pink grapefruit flavor goes well on many things. For instance pink grapefruit seltzers is great. I have never heard of the miracle fruit. I need to look for it.

I REALLY prefer Asian convenience stores over North American ones! The 7-11's and other convenience stores in Japan, South Korea, and Thailand I've been to were WAY better than the ones I've been to in Canada.

Happy Father’s Day! Glad you spent it doing something you enjoy. I visited my parents with my family and got to run a 10K in Queens at Corona Park where the end of Men in Black takes place. It was a fun weekend.

Manju is sooo good. I love the maple leaf shaped ones filled with chocolate from Miyajima.

That’s pretty interesting about the pilgrimage route. It reminds me of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route that have many starting points from Europe and I think even some parts of Asia and Africa culminating in Santiago, Spain. Although I can imagine visiting the temple on a rainy day might not be optimal it made for a great atmosphere. I love the sounds of the japanese crows in the background with the sound of rain. Thanks for posting this beautiful site of Japan.

If they have been left out for a while, it does help to put them in the refrigerator/freezer for a few minutes. It won't restore the shape, but at least they won't be squishy.
