The top surface of the top rails should be 5MM higher than the top edge of the posts.

should be tutching the footpath , make shure to dig under it , use brick layer string and rum it from the top at the end and adjust all your post ( protect the string at each end with tape on eacj end post and brace them to make shure they stay pmumb) dont tuch the string add a 5 mil spacer at each end at the bottom so you dont arc the fence , also for a longer fence dont use rapid set and mift the midle of the string line because you will mark the post at 165 or 180 cm from the top and use it as height reference , when lifting the post ( lift the 2 end one and then the midle one then you can lift the rest and adjust them so they are just tuching the string ( use your level to push up or down using the screws within the post 😊

You seem really knowledgeable about fences. Are these metal fences sturdy in the wind?? or do they rattle around?

I know this is old video. But are they using plain cement or is it concrete?
@andrewsmith8729 Жыл бұрын
You might have your terminology confused.... Cement is a binding agent /powder that is mixed with Aggregate (gravel of different screen sizes) and Sand to make Concrete. Typical concrete mix varies in strength..... based on ratios of gravel, sand, cement such as 4, 2, 1. If you want a bit stronger concrete than use 3, 2, 1 or add a little bit more cement. The idea of concrete is it gets its strength from filling up the air spaces between the gravel with sand and then binding it together with cement powder. Good concrete ideally contains 20mm and 10 mm Gravel...Washed beach or river sand, and cement powder...... Commercial concrete substitutes some of the sand with a stuff called Fly Ash..... it is ash left over from burning coal at coal fueled power stations..... the fly ash dust is nearly as bad as asbestos. I don't know much about quick set concrete it probably is very similar to the epoxy mixes were used to use in highrise construction to secure the tower crane bolts in the floors. ...... You don't really need to make wet concrete for these posts..... a lot of people use a dry mix.... or a reasonably 'dry' wet mix ( it contains a lot less water). The advantage of a dry mix is it is much easier to stand the posts and get them plumb and at the right height. Using dry mix...... lightly wet the post hole beforehand....... insert the post and pack down (tamp down) the dry mix around it. Add the dry mix in 2 or 3 layers so it tamps down better.... the advantage with this method is to plumb the post....... tamp down one side of the hole or the other a bit harder to move the post into plumb..... The posts should be at the right interval and plumb on both the front face and one side face or the post. Then you can either brace your posts, or just don't touch them overnight while the moisture in the ground sets off the concrete..... or you can tip a bit of water into the post hole to help it set overnight...... Once you have the posts set..... check then for height / plumb..... make sure they are right..... and then leave them to set..... don't play around with them too much.

good vid. not sure where you guys are. In the US, it's common for fence installers to put in all the posts, then get each post to the correct height as possible by adding gravel or banging the posts down, following the line. Then, install the fence panels. Then, one by one, add concrete to each hole, starting at an end post. Use fast setting concrete. Adjust the posts up/down as required, one post at a time. Then let harden.

What about the distortion on the pan you are making using your foldys? What about the tear and the pin hole on the rake stop end. This is wrong in my honest opinion. If you would like to see this done properly, please give us a shout, happy to show you! :)
