if your task is to insulate your fins with cottonwood paper mache then bravo mission completed! but you forgot to take that screen off and give the coil a good series of kicks with the steel toe. call them dings ornaments.

I worked at a Toyota dealership in late 90s. Did a lot of head gaskets on these. Rear air had a solenoid valve on the liquid line that ran over the drivers door that would get stopped up and required about 3 hours of interior disassembly to replace. Don't forget about the seat that would dump you out of it if you grabbed the wrong lever or was in a rear collision. The steering columns were known to fly up and smack you in the head too. I know i swapped out 100 or more for a redesigned collapsible model.

If you don't have to take off the top, please explain how to get the leaves and other things that are on the inside out. Maybe I'm missing something ...
@greasebellygarage
@greasebellygarage 3 күн бұрын
depends on how bad your leaf problem is some people have to take the top off sometimes they just rot naturally and rinse out through the drain holes in the bottom. I usually tell people to put a piece of screen on top to prevent the leaves from getting in there as bad. sometimes you just have to take the whole top off and clean them out especially if they're a few inches deep.

For a DIY homeowner, I would agree with this video as to what should be done when the condenser is slightly dirty/dusty (but also turn off power, much safer that way). But if it's plugged with grass, heavy dirt, animal fur, etc, an actual technician should be called to wash it more thoroughly, requiring some extra precautions and such.

The company that cleans my units ALWAYS shuts off the units b4 washing. ALSO TAKES TOP OFF TO REMOVE ALL THE LEAVES IN THE UNIT TO PREVENT FIRE.
@Stevenowski
@Stevenowski 15 күн бұрын
You did well rinsing the unit out. That was a lot of debris in the coil! Now use coil cleaner for maximum heat transfer. ALWAYS turn off the power, and if others are around, lock it out!

I thought it was strange when you called this an early Dodge. Isn't 2010 the last year of the Dodge Ram?
@greasebellygarage
@greasebellygarage 15 күн бұрын
I believe 2010 was the first year of ram because everything on this truck including the owner's manual just said ram. the only place it said Dodge was right above the radio.

My dad had a 76’ concours. Black with red interior and red landau top, rally wheels. 305 was a joke but all you could get at the time. Really good looking car! Had it for years, my brother bought it from him then sold it a few years later to a younger Hispanic guy who took really good care of it! Last I knew it was still roaming the streets of southeast Pa.

I've got the GMC version 4 wheel drive okay it's all wheel drive. It has like 40,000 original miles on it. I bought it out of it basically the Smoky mountains from a cable company. They just didn't use it very much. They wanted to use full size vans and they also had a fleet of these is a type of Vans I forget what you call them right now. But anyway it's got the boxes in back it's an enclosed van and it would make a great work van for somebody.

The sliding side doors on these Astro vans require muscle even when brand new. They are designed more like full size vans in that regard. That was one reason I went for the Dodge minivan instead of the Chevy.

Everyone talking about how the condenser being cleaned while running is the same as when it is raining but it’s not. Safety is number one, but consider what running a soaked condenser does to the head pressure of that system. Definitely not any good.

Does it matter or make it worst or better to have the unit running while doing this spray down or better when the unit is off?
@greasebellygarage
@greasebellygarage Ай бұрын
depending on how dirty your condensing coil is, it really doesn't make much of a difference. I just do it while it's running sometimes cuz it helps pull the water through. obviously it's less messy if you turn the unit off. the point of the video is to give people to stop tearing them apart when they don't really need that. if your coil is extremely dirty or impacted, you should probably just call in a professional if it needs to be taken apart to be cleaned.

on that ram 1500 it made absolutely no difference whether the door was on or off. in fact, leaving the door off probably helped. I didn't assume that that comes from decades of experience.

@greasebellygarage I thought about you guys and some other folks who've been affected by the hurricane. You know in the past I've been in the national guard I've been active duty I've been reserves. My point is I'll never forget I was 17 in the national guard and we had flood duty. Who is primarily a trailer court. They also had a tornado go through. Some homes house trailers turned upside down with other ones sitting on top of it submerged under the water. A major river was right there. I remember going in after this girl. She was trying to get her younger brother out. I got her out and couldn't find her younger brother. Imagine that they gave me a medal for only doing half my job. Have stuck with me for decades. Hopefully you folks have fared decent All things considered. So I don't take these things lightly. But you could use the song Riding the Storm out. For background audio
