Hi Professor. I was watching a video you posted in February of 2021. I was wondering if I can get access to the spreadsheet you used for the presentation? Thanks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGXGZWqAeb6LeNE

Calendar years go from Jan 1 to Dec 31...Fiscal years are years that aren't necessarily wndong on Dec 31,, so an example of a fiscal year would be Apr 1 thru Mar 31

Can we show the Discount on Notes Payable on Assets side ? By which concept of accounting, we are creating Discount on notes payable? When we are creating interest expense, then what is the purpose of Discount on Notes receivable?
@professorcpa1254
@professorcpa1254 3 жыл бұрын
Good Question. In accounting, we want to reflect both the original amount (face value), and current value (or the amount we actually received) of the Notes Payable. So we list the Discount on Notes Payable as a Contra Liability to the Notes Payable to achieve this. Original Value less Discount = Actual Value received/owed. The interest then reflects the face value interest expense adjusted to the real interest rate (that's what the discount tracks). Hope that helps. If not, please let me know.
