When we were growing up, everyone wanted an Uncle Bill.

I totally LOST IT near the end when buffy tells bill she doesn't want to leave; bawled like a baby. of course I knew they'd stay-there couldn't be a show without them but this episode was still quite moving.

what a wonderful show it was, i think the shows of today , can really learn alot from this show and its warmth

I was pretty young when this aired, but I think I saw it, because I remember that punch!

I think I read somewhere that the opening was to take advantage of the fact that all CBS prime time programming was in color starting in fall 1966. CBS started showing color programs in fall 1965, but not all of prime time. Since "Family Affair" premiered the same month CBS showed all prime time shows in color, Family Affair was the first or one of the first CBS prime time show with all episodes in color.

I remember watching the show every Monday night as a kid at 8:30 pm, The Lucy Show at 7:30, Andy Griffith at 8:00, then Family Affair. It was a nice complement of shows. I remember feeling a little sorry for Aunt Fran at the end of this one when I first saw it as a 9 year old, but now watching it as an adult, she was a master manipulator who got her just dessert...Still shed a tear at the end though when Buffy finally sees the light!

When I was a kid (and still now) I was confused by the intro and outro. A spinning pile of gems? Are those gems Uncle Bill's?

Uncle Bill is a wise man. He knows giving kids a stable place to grow up is the best for them. Fran is simply selfish.

What in the world was that hanging on the wall at 3:15? What was he going to do with that thing he picked up and put to his ear? Weird! ;) It seems like eons ago that we used public pay phones.

I was there for the first taping of show. It was so fun. The family bought us chicken dinners that night it wa a long day. Go see the show in Vegas it is great.

I wish I had a Mr. French and a Hazel. Then my house would be clean and all my chores would be done for me, lol

I saw most or all of the Shirley temple movies on the local PBS station as a kid in the 70's and early 80's. She was born April 23, 1928. My dad was born April 23, 1929.

I know that but what makes them think that is what she wants.Too me it seems odd they would decide that's what she wants when she never mentions Christmas.

I don't get why they decide to throw a Christmas party . I realize they want to do something nice but why a Christmas party?

I heard he broke his wrist and he had to have surgery on it, so that's why he was gone for a while. In episodes before his absense, you can see a bandage on his hand.
