Kindly enlighten me on: 1. He used 10 Billion where? Outside of the UK? Domestic, kept them apart, did what exactly? 2. Artificially high interest rates of what? Interest provided on deposits or collection on loans?
@IGcom12 күн бұрын
Hi there - thanks for your comment! He used $10 billion to short the pound on international FX markets. The reference to high interest rates refers to the Bank of England's base rate. Hope this helps!

Don't be seduced by large dividends. Concentrate on total return. There is no sense in collecting large dividends if your overall investment is going down however I’d say SPYI, JEPQ, QQI and IWMI. But do your research. Personally I put down 250k on few ETFs, still diversifying. Earning season is around the corner, It was this time last year I made a huge break through with 200k. Handed it to a firm here in Texas, I get weekly pay out which I put back on long term ETF's. IWM will probably crush it this quarter

Unfortunately the price action has been ethically ( and not to mention illegally ) suppressed by industry ( indirectly via hedge funds, institutions etc ) - mirroring the way mainstream media ($$$) suppresses the vegan philosophy to the mass public . I hold no position in beyond but I can notice from the sidelines what is befalling it..

hi i have a request, when you use terms like “shorted” can you please elaborate more in plain english what that entails. even though i’m fairly literate in household and small business finance, when it comes to stock market terms and “betting” against, i always lose the thread of thought. it took me quite a bit of further reading on the matter to understand what you meant when you said “he immediately bought it all back”.

i have the same problem. a TA for a class told me that understanding finance is not very intuitive and I agree. From what I understand, short selling is borrowing, in this case, money, and then selling it at its current price; Soros betted that the pound would fall, and it did, so when he returned the money he borrowed, it was worth less than when he initially borrowed it. He essentially borrowed and then sold (I think he exchanged it into German marks) valuable money, making $1B, and returned back value-less money.

George soros is a bit climate change guy which is funny bc he actually admitted to hating humanity
@rgolten13 күн бұрын
@@wekseth4608 I think you’ll find that it was Elon Musk who said, on the Joe Rogan podcast in Oct 2023, that “in my opinion he (George Soros) fundamentally hates humanity” I’m a big Elon fan but I do think it’s a shame that he had a go at George Soros, a 94 year old who probably isn’t big on social media & didn’t have the opportunity to defend himself. Keep in mind that Soros will be know as the man who gave away over $30 billion to charitable causes though his grantmaking network, the Open Society Foundations
@rgolten13 күн бұрын
I feel compelled to defend George Soros. It was Elon Musk who said (on the Joe Rogan podcast in Oct 2023) that in his opinion George Soros hates humanity. George Soros is 95 & a bit of a sitting duck as you won’t find him on social media! He has however given over $30 billion in philanthropic donations through his Open Society Foundations. Probably the biggest philanthropist of all time, his left leaning orientation does irritate some people. He’s also been accused of being a Nazi! Ridiculous! He’s a Holocaust survivor. Btw I like Elon Musk too! They are both good guys using their money for the greater good

Be careful with IG. Their "customer service" is giving my wife the runaround, fobbing her off with their refusal to help with a problem THEY created. She bought Ryanair shares in 2016 as part of her Stocks & Shares ISA and now can't sell them since Ryanair moved to Euronex from LSE. No warnings, nothing. The shares are now useless. Absolutely terrible customer service that is no help whatsoever. Use someone else. You'll get no redress from IG. They delete comments like this, too.

Can you please create a video to cover XSP / SPY / ES Options and what happens if you hold 0DTE to expiry in each. I would prefer to trade XSP which is cash settled rather than SPY which might result in me having the underlying assigned for settlement.
