Well I guess a bit of a recap is required! Meet Jeanie, I met this little legend on my December 2019 trip to Siargao in the Philippines. We hit it off and stayed in touch after I got back, but do you all remember what happened not long after? The bloody rona! So we did the whole long-distance thing thinking it would only be a few months of disruption, not gonna lie, it was a hard time not knowing when that debarkle would end, it dragged on and on! Long distance couples we're dropping like flies! And we came close a couple of times, it was hard... But when restrictions started to ease in mid/ late 2022, we finally got to see each other again after about 2.5 years! But I couldn't go to the Philippines and she couldn't come to Oz, so we met up in Bali for a 3 week adventure together, 1 week of which we spent on this island, Nusa Lembongan! We squeezed in another trip a few months later back to Nusa Lembongan, and on that trip, Jean's Aussie tourist visa got approved, so we booked her flights there and then! And on New Years eve eve 2022 she arrived in Oz! I already knew, for us to make it through that time, we had a pretty special bond, but after living together I knew for sure... So we did this trip in July 2023, did a bit of exploring together in Mangsit, Lombok, then headed over to Lembongan. I was going to propose the evening we arrived, but there was a HUGE ferry delay leaving Lombok, luckily the weather forecast looked good for the following evening. Managed to keep the ring hidden the whole trip, but that day I was a nervous wreck! Haha. I knew she would. say yes, but the nerves still kicked my ass a little. I told her I hadn't filmed a sunset timelapse in ages, so we should grab some bintangs and catch it before dinner at The Sampan. I dunno how I managed to keep myself composed as the moment arrived, but I made it through without kooking it too hard haha, and her answer was a perfect example of her fun character, especially the happy dance! It made everything we endured worthwhile, and perhaps even a little sweeter to know we passed such a huge test. Can't recall exactly what airline we used, but there's several flights per day from Bali to Lombok, there are flights to Sumbawa but its a really long drive to Maluk after, so we opted to go via Lombok with a crossing on the public ferry to west sumbawa. I haven't researched this trip since, so things might have changed post plandemic. Thanks for watching! Keep that stoke alive my friend! 😁

Cheers Dan! The whole West Sumbawa region has some great waves, get out and explore, you'll find them 😉 Lombok is a bit more limited mainly to desert point and the strip between Kuta and Gerupuk, tho I hear there's a few spots in Mangsit which I'm checking out next month.

@@danb8877 hit up the crew at your accom, they'll normally be able to hook you up with a Vario for around 80k per day for short term hire, you'll def need it for South coast Lombok and Sumbawa. But on this vid, we got a taxi for the Lombok Airport to Kayagan port transfer, and then another taxi after that ferry to our accom at Supers, if you need to cart all your gear it's best to go a taxi mate, much easier.

The Indo wet season can be pretty hit and miss for good conditions with frequent storms and wind not being good for snorkelling. However, when weather is nice and winds are light in the dry season, there can also be big swells out from the Indian Ocean, so May would be my best bet, but you'll want to give a week or more window to pick the best day to go.

It took me the time of the video :p Depends on the number of people descending when you are, the more people there are the slower it gets due to the number of bottlenecks in the track.

Hey Mick! I found you from Peter McKinnon's Channel Western Australia is one part of the country I missed out on living there. I can only imagine it's gorgeous and fairly untouched though! Were you born and raised out there? Also, I like the music you chose to put in this video. How come you haven't posted in so long? Cheers Ryan! Peter... What a legend ay! Yeah I've been a bit slack of late haha, just not feelin the creative vibe due to everything being isolated and working my ass off! I'm a bit more active on Insta @_uber_mick but even been slack there. However I'll start ramping things up again in a month or two once I get over some life hurdles. I get where your coming from, creating vs living and experiencing the moment. But for myself at least, I'm more active when I have a creative plan to execute! Especially when travelling! If I decide to have a day without cameras, I don't do much, but if I decide to bust them out, then I feel the need to capture interesting stuff, so it's a great motivator for me, and as a bonus I have a library of my adventures I can scroll through later in life, enjoy those experiences and memories all over again. Do what bring your self and others joy mate! Keep it real and keep it rolling! Yewww! 😁
