In modern urban society, it may not be the case. For example: Many family tend to "upgrade" their residence to a bigger space due to growing children and/or ageing parents, which means purchasing a new home around 40s and getting a new loan. Granted - the maximum age for loans in Malaysia is up to 70 year old. So if one plans to retire at 60, for example, there will still be 10 years of repayment. Many urban elderly move into retirement homes, which entails on-going payment (which of course may be paid by children). Of course - with good financial planning - it "should" be all settled.

@@beyondinsights If you are retired at 65 , still hv high outstanding housing loan and all your children are still young and in college, you had it ! That's what they called , ' no planning ' !

Trump plans to lower corporate tax rates for "certain companies", to allow for immediate tax deduction for research and equipment expenses. That means lower tax expenses for corporate which could lead to lower prices. Trump has also said that he will bring down prices by boosting oil and gas production., but this may have limited effect as US is still heavily importing oil. So that's the "plan" but the details are not known at the moment. There are other plan of his that may work against the plan to curb inflation, e.g. import tariffs (which may make goods more expensive), deporting undocumented workers (which also drives cost up). It's hard for us to know how things will work at this moment, without enough details ... as they say "the devil is in the details".
