That’s its new whistle it acquired in November 2022. When the museum was celebrating 75 years of the Australind train

I think it’s now at the Bennett Brook railway I think, I might be wrong. Bennett Brook railways steam locomotive ‘Betty Thompson’ was given a new whistle and it sounds like Leschenault lady’s original whistle

This is a pity that the both the R class and the J class were scrapped to prematurely average mileages on the Js 540,000, miles the R class 550 to 620,00 miles the wheel bearings hardly broken in
Some great memories here, I spent thousands of hours in the design of the Taits for MSTS. Started in 2006, we (Team Alco) released them in 2010. Really basic by today’s standards, but they were something back in the day!

Velocity in real life would win also so it’s realistic
I see a bit of SAR footage has snuck into the film. A 700 class perhaps, on the Willunga line?

This Spirit of Progress never went beyond Albury! She will not fit on the standard gauge track and heritage rules forbid changes to her original format being made including adjusting her wheel width! The standard gauge version is a very nice train but it should have a different name!!!!
