Unsolicited advice from an intermediate skier: try leaning forward more. It's scary as hell at first and feels like you're going to just fall forward on your face, but remember the front part of your skis will support your weight and you can lean WAY farther forward than you would think without it being a problem. A lot of your falls in this vid were from your skis sliding out because your weight was too far back. The steeper the slope the more important it is to lean forward. That said, sick video, thanks for sharing! I'll be going to Snowshoe next week and I love getting hyped for it with videos like this

How do you like Primer S? Thinking about getting one. Pros Cons. Local bike shop has one for a pretty good deal.
@zachswekosky56503 ай бұрын
@@rmillerawacs Pros: it's fun to ride, very playful, jumps well, corners like a beast, and looks gorgeous. Cons: I've definitely found its limitations on technical trails, in my opinion it's comfortably a trail bike and you won't confuse it for an Enduro bike, also worth noting that mine and my brothers (which are identical) both had some annoying creaking issues that took a ton of tinkering to get to go away and I can't trace what fixed them. Conclusion: At retail price I think there are better bikes for your buck that will be more fun and perform better. I wouldn't but this bike at retail. But they have been on crazy sales and if you can pick one up for under $4k it's hard to find a better spec's bike out there 🙌

Ridden this trail many times but only ride it in the winter time because of the over grown section at the top! Also, I normally only ride an XC bike so the section of the wash out going down can be challenging on a 120mm/100mm bike.

The trail "sucks" bc it is a challenging tech trail and most riders are too lazy to take on that challenge. Bike-a hike?? No way! More trail traffic would wear in the trail better. This is how almost all trails were 20 years ago. Now, the machine-cut trails with sculpted berms are the rage. Those trails make for better selfies and vids, I guess. Backcountry is the best country imo.
@Eganize5 ай бұрын
@petedog9581 Agreed! Don't worry, they will put in a nice smooth flow trail there at some point. TBH, I'm tired of seeing tech trails closed for flow because folks can't find a way to ride them smoothly. If anything, instead of closing it, you would think think they would do maybe a couple little edits to increase the 'natural' rhythm of that line if its so bad.
@jonk89165 ай бұрын
@@Eganize I live locally, just to clarify these trails aren't being closed because they are difficult. They are being closed or re-routed due to erosion (Black Mountain), sedimentation (Butter Gap), and/or user conflicts (Cat Gap, likely others soon-ish). The sanitization done in DuPont is to help with erosion and facilitate horses, along with mitigate issues with other user groups. Most trail work you see in this area is for water mitigation and occasionally to resolve user conflicts, it has nothing to do with trails being difficult. Unfortunately around here, difficult trails tend to be eroded and the land managers don't like that. There are limits on the grades and materials trailbuilders can use, so whatever work gets done inevitably ends up being a mellow grade flow trail. This trail was proposed for closure because it's low traffic and a constant erosion problem, at least in the eyes of the land managers. It's also out/back, so it presents a potential user conflict. People rarely ride or hike it. So that is why they proposed closing it. To be clear I don't agree with this reasoning at all, it just is what it is. SORBA will tell you to get involved but it's just grandstanding, neither land managers in Pisgah nor DuPont really have any willingness to change their outlook or policies, so these trends will likely continue and there isn't anything they can do about it.
