What i always "loved" about this commercial is that both of them are wrong. Hes too fast. Hes being overconfident in other drivers. Both pay the price.
@akuunreach2 ай бұрын
Both can't be bothered to slow down and wait a moment longer, and there were no cars behind the motorist speeding. Since this looks to be a rural area, and the default speed is 100km in these areas, we can assume he's doing 4km over the speed limit. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been able to stop even if we was doing the limit. Not sure how it works in NZ, but I'm pretty sure he had right of way, so in the eyes of the law, the father is 100% at fault. But hey, the dad just made a "mistake" and killed 3 people.

I've seen this ad so many times and it still gives me goosebumps. Only other ad to feel this powerful was the one made by that high-school boy that later got cancer. I've tried to find it but, had no luck. I think it was filmed in an RSA and, one of the lines was comparing the soldier's deaths to the road toll saying the soldiers (ANZACs?) died for something whereas those killed in the road toll died for nothing. Waka kotahi/NZTA promised to play it in his honour but, they never did.

I was in a car accident in 2004. I had no clue the guy speeding down the road on my left in a 1980 Chevy pickup wasn't going to stop for a 4 way stop sign. I drove off and proceeded with my left turn not really paying attention like I should have been, and taking it for granted that he had a stop sign. All of a sudden every second felt like an hour! I had no clue what was happening. I started wondering why time was going slow. It felt like hours went by and my brain couldn't comprehend what was happening. After what felt like three hours of wondering what the hell was going on, I finally looked and realized he wasn't stopping at all. I immediately floored the gas to attempt to miss him. Time went by so slowly that my brain was convinced I made it with room to spare. All of a sudden crash!!! He hit the middle of the drivers side bed on my truck so violently that it was crushed in half like a soda can. I spun around twice and almost rolled in the process. If time didn't slow down I wouldn't have noticed, and I wouldn't have floored it. Guaranteed he would have hit me directly in the drivers side door, and I wouldn't be writing this. TLDR: Time slowed down before I even knew what was happening to me, and is the only reason I'm alive today.

Why doesn't he just get the kid out of the car?
@dariusgarland125 ай бұрын
Yes, he could've done that, but the WHOLE POINT of the video was to show you about your awareness of driving, otherwise the worst things can happen will be like just what you have seen in the video of them crashing. It just them coming up with new creativity and some new ideas to advertise VIDEOS about the safety of driving, so you wouldn't have to see the same repetitive videos over and over again.

@@dariusgarland12 Yeah I know that's the point of the video and all that, but was there anything stopping them from getting the kid out of the car?

One thing I’ve learned is the destination will always be there whether you get there at 5:43 or 5:45. Speeding does nothing but increase your chances of an accident. That realization has made me a much better driver. Speed limit everywhere and I’m not stressed about getting there. I get there when I get there. No big deal

i remember this ad, and at the time thought it did not and could not commute a sense of reality, it`s like they are trying to act out a scene from The Minority report. One guy is begging the other guy to take the blame for his own negligence. you cannot turn a fact into a fictional event, thats being disingenuous.
