My mum was from Blackhill, and from the late fifties to the early seventies she used to bring me up from England to stay with my granny, who lived in Maryston Street. I used to love it, and had more pals there than I did back home. These days I spend as much time as I can in Glasgow; Blackhill has changed but I always have a drive through for old time's sake.

I'd say there are more rich wankers in such suburbs in & around Glasgow than there are REAL (i.e. working class) Glaswegians. I've lost count of how many working-class people have left Glasgow, myself included. Many of these are where I am now (Australia). I'd no intention of leaving Glasgow, until I had no choice when the Thatcherite Tory dictatorship (inflicted on us by the English bastards) cost me my job, my home, my marriage & my kids.

I grew up in Provanhall in the '80s before leaving Easterhouse altogether in the late '90s so I know the whole area quite well. Although a lot of the old housing is gone, replaced by modern houses in some cases and refurbished in others, the place is a shit hole. Sure, there are nice patches here and there but by and large it's a shit hole. I take no please in saying so, if anything, I say it with a mixture of sadness and simple resignation, but the fact is, it's a shit hole. I mean, there's no chance you'd see as many roads in that condition in the affluent areas of the city. I don't know what the solution involves but it involves money for sure, lots of it!
@cycleeuphoria3982 жыл бұрын
I would agree. The state of the roads are terrible. As you say, all down to budget and cheap material patch work. It is not the only area needing done, the hole of Glasgow needs done.
