If the goal is more Hobbyists using QT; it this difficult seems counterproductive. Keeping a cycled tank available is not realistic for most Hobbyists. The 80/20 method advocated elsewhere are much simpler and get 80% of the result. Two 10 gallon tanks and 100% weekly water changes are much more manageable.

@HumblefishReef2 ай бұрын
@@pokedan6846 Stringy brown poo is NOT a symptom of internal parasites. Stringy white poo SOMETIMES CAN BE, but the fish should also be looking really thin or has a pinched stomach if intestinal worms/parasites are present.

Can prazi be used with copper ? Very mixed hobbiest opinions on this
@HumblefishReef3 ай бұрын
@@pokedan6846 Yes, but with caution. Mixing the two can cause a bacterial bloom (cloudy water) which leads to oxygen depletion in the water. So you have to greatly increase gas exchange when combining them to offset this. Also, every time you combine medications that can increase side effects on the fish.

@HumblefishReef4 ай бұрын
@@MergulhoDoJoey Seachem Matrix does not come with bacteria. You have to “seed” it with live nitrifying bacteria. I will be utilizing one tank as I don’t have space so I’m going through quarantine as we speak with copper for 30 days then I would like to do almost 100% water change and observe for the next two weeks. My question is there is a slight bit of copper present shouldn’t be a big deal? Also, do I have to replace matrix to control ammonia every time I do a water change also, can I get away without doing a water change for the whole 30 days using prime from seachem?
@HumblefishReef4 ай бұрын
A little bit of copper leftover is no big deal. Once your bio media (Matrix) is seeded with live nitrifying bacteria, it should be good to go until you break down the QT & clean everything. Whether or not you have enough nitrifying bacteria in the QT for continuous ammonia control (for your specific bio load) is an open-ended question. So, I highly recommend monitoring ammonia with a Seachem ammonia alert badge and do a water change anytime the color shows something other than yellow.
