As complicated as it is to grind down the rivet to replace just that catch, considering you have to remove the backing plate anyway, just swap backing plates with the piece already riveted in... only those may not be alumnium. Still, my original latch lasted 21 years

It's great to see Florence is going again. It was at the last one in they raced in the 70s, a young one and only pit crew member fueling my brother's bikes. Brother Charles crashed out on his Yamaha mono shock in the rock query, and Tommy finished on his Elsinore. Kawasaki is looking good. Great video. Thanks for posting 👍🏼

I need to replace a clip because it seems to be bent. The previous owner did it when he removed the trim. So am I understanding right when that to remove the clip all I need to do is pull them out with a needle nose?
@basespeedandmachine5583
@basespeedandmachine5583 6 ай бұрын
They have a little latch on them, if its bent it may pop right off. The clips lock into a stud that is welded to the body. A little screw driver could be used to lift that little tab up.

Thanks for posting this video! My 1980 Chevy K20 came from the factory with WARN locking hubs and it's the same color as yours. I replaced all the brake components on it 27 years ago and I thought I'd remember how to do it again. I found out yesterday that my memory is failing me.😟

Passanger side must have been in the sun more then drivers side. The sun will burn through the plastic lens and no amount of sanding will ever make it as clear as the other side. Probably due to where the owner has been parking the vehicle. Also a lot of older Toyotas and older Lexus have a softer polycarbonate plastic (ie more oil) that when are subjected to constant sun light without any protection the sun burns up the lens almost like a permanent sunburn for the lens and that’s why some lens are so cloudy

I done my first Cub crank pin swap about 60 years ago. If you scribe opposite the crank pin, then on reassembly you only have to adjust by hitting the outer face to bring the scribed face in alignment.

A person could use any 6mm crush washer, whether it be copper, nylon or aluminum. I bought ( Suzuki part number 09168-06004 (replaces part # 09168-06002)) from Rocky mountain ATV and received an aluminum one.

Hi. I am currently dealing with a similar oil line problem on my '76 GT500 on the left cylinder. I did find the part you displayed too so thank you. If I'm correct McMaster wants over $12 for a five pack plus shipping. How many did you replace? Thanks
@basespeedandmachine5583
@basespeedandmachine5583 10 ай бұрын
You end up needing 6 per line for the lines running from the pump to the engine. 2 washers per Banjo bolt you plan to remove.

I believe you will find it very difficult to find a set of gators that will work. They are specific to the T500. There is a guide and a spacer that needs to be installed in groves at the top of the gator, as well as the gator has a ridge that fits into a grove of the fork bottom leg securing it in place. Mine were split. what i did was use a product called "Goo-Gone" to patch them as a stop-gap. If you do find a correct replacement please let me know. Also, if you disassemble the forks there is a special tool to reinstall the fork because there is no way to grip the fork to pull it up into the top triple clamp. I fashioned a 10mm fine threaded rod about 12" long with a "T" handle made of flatbar and a 10mm fine nut. Just thread this into the bolt hole at the top of the fork in order to pull it into place.

I realize this is an older video. I have never removes or disassembled such a crank setup. But I think if you mic'd the distance between the two halves initially and than machined a spacer plate to cover most of the circular area, than when you reassembled it again you could merely press it again using the machined spacer plate. Also is you use a vice, you could adjust the concentricity so much easier... Just an idea!
@basespeedandmachine5583

That's not a bad Idea. That would definitely aid in keeping the 2 sides parallel to each other.
