I have some really freaking cool vehicle details especially for the pacific DLC. First off, the Kami landing craft is essentially named "god" in Japanese. The Japanese tank Chi-ha means "Thousand" and "wings/leaves/blades/thorns". On the back of each Japanese vehicle there are identification numbers for that vehicle (same with every other vehicle in the game and each vehicle skin changes that number). Some numbers actually relate to specific vehicles that did serve, though not all. The ones that do relate to a real life vehicle often have a story behind them. In Japanese the number 4 and 9 (ku and shi) are unlucky numbers. This is because they basically translate to "death" and "suffering". The only two skins for the Japanese landing crafts with 4s or 9s in their IDs are "Raw" and "Marianas". These two are basically rusted out Ka-Mi landing kraft husks. This may be a reference to the battle of the Marianas being one of the unluckiest Japanese naval battles in the war, where a majority of aircraft, navy, and cargo ships (perhapse even holding this kind of landing craft) were sunk and left to be derelect. Tl:dr, Both ka-mi skins with 4 and 9 stamped on them (unlucky numbers) have essentially been destroyed. The only sherman tank skin that has "U.S. NAVY" stamped on its side is "Tinian" which was one of the last naval landings of the pacific and largely signaled the beggining of the end for Japan. This battle was technically a land and sea fight, but personally I believe this standout "Navy" feature is owed to the fact most American pacific tanks likely would have been sourced through the navy. Also Tinian is the island the first two atomic bomber planes took off from to bomb Japan. On some sherman skins there are dots between the "U and S" painted on their sides, and on some there are no dots. I'm hoping this difference is a reference to a change in stencils used to identify shermans. If I recall this stencil change happened sometime in 1943. This could indicate what years of the war each tank "skin" entered service but I can't be sure because I don't have much info on this specific piece of info. If you made it this far by scrolling I hope you enjoy my little nugget of wisdom and also realize the skins in bf5 had f***ing character.
