@LTCoasters That would be great. I love nerding out over the engineering of a coaster. That's how I became an enthusiast. I was in awe of the incredible feats and intelligence it took to make it possible, and so safe. We often take it for granted.

Thanks! So you want to go up and change the brass on that mid course? It looks challenging.
@ryantheridemechanic8 күн бұрын
@ not bad. If the hardware is not corroded it would take about 45min. But it will suck to lug all the plates up there and back down. That stuff is not light.
@LTCoasters8 күн бұрын
Yikes, I didn't even think about how much a set of plates would weigh, let alone multiples.

Could kingda ka be at the end of its life cycle? I know there are alot of steal coasters alot older then 20years old which kingda ka will be next year but non of the experience the forces that kingda ka has that could be wearing out the metal faster. I am not saying this is the case I do not know just woundering if that is a factor.
@LTCoasters3 ай бұрын
@josephmoore2820 I doubt that as the Steel on TT2s top hat is older and not the issue with that ride. It is always a possibility, though, and that is something only NDT (non destructive testing) and engineers can anwser.

@@LTCoasters I got to ride Kingda Ka more times about 2 months ago. I think the rumors of it closing forever aren't true, but it's just sad to me how launches as powerful as Kingda Ka are starting to go away. I think Kingda Ka is more iconic than Top Thrill Dragster ever was and too famous for Six Flags Great Adventure to give up on in any way, shape, or form.
@LTCoasters3 ай бұрын
@skyguyismyguyr12turn I think if they were true we would be hearing about another ride being built soon. Only time will tell, though. I can see the mostly Cedar Fair board doing it give the North American record back to Cedar Point. I think Siren's Curse proves who the golden child still is as it could have gone to other parks. I will take a new coaster.

@@LTCoasters Honestly, Cedar Point doesn't deserve to be the number 1 child in the new Six Flags superchain anymore.

thank you so much. I sometimes try to do that but there are just a few that don't pull out far enough like Blue streak. But hey I am pleased to say that after almost a year of doing healthy workouts and going out for walks I was able to buckle my self in my favorite rollercoaster. The Gemini! It is still a bit tight but hey I am very happy. (Just don't ask my tummy that lol) Oh what also can help people is if you are riding with a friend or family member and if their hands are small enough they can hold on to one end of the belt for you while you do everything you can to squash your boney wide hips into that seat.

@Sasskitten You're welcome! Congrats on the weight-loss. My wake-up call was Gatekeeper. I just barely made it last year. Oh, that's a good idea too, I usually go by myself though.
@Sasskitten3 ай бұрын
@@LTCoasters hey speaking of gatekeeper did you know that fourth row from the front on the left side is for bigger people? and I guess another way to know if a seat is for bigger people is that it is a different color seatbelt. I also was able to get on mineride (Barely and my legs didn't help lol.) and Iron Dragon. (But I have aa feelking I could always get on that.)
@LTCoasters3 ай бұрын
@Sasskitten Yes, almost all B&M coasters that have a row 4 have at least 2 plus size seats in that row. I just felt so bad watching a 110lb woman try to squish me in the seat.
@Sasskitten3 ай бұрын
@@LTCoasters That is how I feel when they have to do that for me. I mean people don't seem to make fun or giggle like they used to when they watch something like that but they are on a time limit and don't want to have to stop the ride and seeing these four ride attendants for mineride have to combine their strength together to get just one click of the bar. Oh and I guess their drop coaster Has an entire row for plus size. I would have rode that but by that time my tummy was not feeling it and I needed a place to sit and cool down. Me and my niece we laughed about how I stood up on the side edge of Iron dragon (I couldn't get my leg over) and froze because it a long way to jump and I wasn't as young as I used to be and was like "I'm gonna die!"

@LTCoasters4 ай бұрын
@ryantheridemechanic True, part of the reason that 155mph launch coaster struggles with motors way up the side. But I often wonder is it the motors or the human ability to handle it. If we really poured max current down them. I have said before I'm OK blacking out small cities to get the voltage and current I need, haha. Yes, I know things would start to overheat and basically melt. I appreciate your comments on every video.

@ryantheridemechanic Haha, you noticed the slight dig. Well, it has been more of a huge lawn ornament this year. However, the spot I showed is a lot larger across the road inside the park. This small area is outside and next to the Marina. Yes, I noticed later they mentioned the exact spot I was talking about in the stills. Usually rushing is bad case in point. I'm just happy I get to investigate a newer design and how it works in person.

I figured I would just add this as a comment. Those sensors on Valravn I talked about are guarding the load and unloading area of the train when the floor (combs) is not completely assembled and locked in place. Anything breaking that light beam will cause the ride to fault. In the best case, it's a long way down. In the worst case, you end up in pieces. Either way, you likely won't make it.

@ryantheridemechanic Yes, I was surprised to if you listened close to the audio. From what I can gather riding it today the second boat can sit right behind the one you see about to drop. As the boat in the drop position has been pulled up onto the drop out of the water by some type of conveyor that can be stopped so another boat can't enter that block.
