Hi,i just buy my fms fox 3m and i'm making the setup.I don't want to use factory prop,i bought aeronaut me too but the size is15x10.What is your size?Fms gives 15x7,5.Can this motor work with 15x10?Thank you.

I have not tried a 15x10, test the current draw with a wattmeter. Personally I would try the 15x10 because the chord of the FMS prop is quite large. If you don't have a wattmeter, put the 15x10 on and fly around for a couple of minutes at 50% throttle then land and check the temp of the motor and esc. If they are cool enough, fly again at 75% throttle, etc etc

@aristocraftboy
@aristocraftboy 8 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! Yes I removed a lot from the fuselage but the windscreen material was quite thick and replaced the structural integrity, hence the nuts and bolts all the way around the windscreen, it was a challenge to bend the clear plastic and I didn't want to use a heat gun for fear of distorting the vision forward, already the forward vision is limited even with the camera mounted as high as possible. Unfortunately I crashed it (fumbling for the flap switch straight after takeoff, not realising I had bumped the throttle to near idle, stalled and crashed quicker than I could throttle up). Destroyed the motor and actually crumpled the nose significantly along with damaged main wings... yet surprisingly the rest of the fuselage survived unscathed.

@@aristocraftboy I am coming back to this again... Thinking about the Trainstar now and then as a STOL plane... Had the classic tundra and tried the big Tundra as well, but somehow I do not like it. Did your wing fences provide some serious anti-stall abilities? I can see the flaps are just hinges and do not detach from the wing like it´s mostly done. Were you happy with them to slow the plane down? Sorry to read the plane was destroyed. Do you have another one now? I did some FPV with my Tundras as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIGlZ6J5hrZ7arcsi=I79ELL_Kptf0W_0-
@aristocraftboy
@aristocraftboy 4 ай бұрын
@@Kaffimusic to be honest I think the Tundra is a much more refined plane when it comes to STOL from what I have read, although I have never owned either of the Tundras. It has been a while now but from memory the fences did improve low speed handling although I'm not sure if it lowered stall speed much, I'd reckon vortex generators in the least for STOL, leading edge slats should make a noticeable improvement in stall speed. I put slats & flaps on my Starmax/ Hobbyking 1400mm Cub and it improved from being a known tip stall/ roll plane when flown way too slow, to literally just mush forward and keep flying, so much so when landing fpv if I get far too slow there is no wing rock, it just sinks and drops lol so I have to get used to keeping a little throttle on, it is deceiving just how slow that thing will fly now. Back to the Trainstar Ascent, the biggest key is to keep it as light as possible, fences and slats will help but then you need to decide if it is worth the effort? It was a struggle to achieve enough forward vision trying to get the fpv cam as high as possible in the cockpit, but then it doesn't matter if you also mount the cam on the tail.
@Kaffimusic
@Kaffimusic 4 ай бұрын
@@aristocraftboy thx! Tbh... the Big Tundra is pretty bad when it comes to slowing down. I expected it to perform MUCH better than the smaller one, since the ratio of wing area and weight (and densitiy of air to size) should lead to way better results. But in fact it is very touchy and even though it has those vortex generators, tends to stall abruptly to one side and fall like a stone. Surprisingly the V1 that I had - although not really slow - performed way better. One problem of the big one might be the ultra heavy gear. It´s so heavy, the plane still needs lead in the stablilizers although there is already a camera WITH A PANSERVO installed and the flightbattery shifted all the back as I could. So, I am not really happy right now and look out for other, more handy options. The Trainer Ascent is on sale right now on Bangood, so I thought... maybe. I like the looks of it.

I have a small 12 volt fan mounted on the Air Unit video transmitter, blowing down into the au with a small air gap between the fan and the au. I power my au from a dedicated 3s lipo, power for the fan is spliced of this. Make sure the vents in the cockpit floor are not blocked. I'm putting another Fox together at the moment, I'll likely add a couple of small scale-ish holes in the canopy to draw air in and exit our the rear of the canopy. With the fan on the au, which I do with all my dji air units anyway, I have never had any overheating issues, even in summer. The fan runs when the au is powered up so I never forget to turn the fan on lol

@aristocraftboy
@aristocraftboy Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what Fatshark gear you have, I'm assuming HD03/ Walksnail/ Avatar, which I have no knowledge of sorry. Might be best to research on RC Groups. My setup is simply DJI hd fpv v1 goggles and air unit/ camera, BAG pan & tilt (designed for dji hd fpv), and stock FrSky radio control. My head tracker is an old external cased Fatshark Trinity, mounted on the top of my dji goggles with hook & loop velcro, this plugs into the trainer port of my Taranis radio control, allocated channels 7 (for camera panning) & 8 (camera tilting). I power my dji goggles & Trinity ht'er with a small 3s lipo. I power the dji camera/ air unit with a small 3s lipo. If the plane runs on 3s I use the 3s flight lipo to also power the dji gear. If the plane runs on 4s or higher, I either power the dji gear with a dedicated small 3s lipo (500 ~850mah) or use a 12 volt step down voltage regulator, powered off the flight lipo the plane runs on. The reason I chose dji over Fatshark hd fpv was because the dji air unit records video on the plane as well as records on the goggles- the goggles has no sound recorded but sound is recorded on the on-board the plane. When I bought into hd fpv Fatshark was in its infancy, lots of glitching in the video feed, vid recording was subpar, and no ability to record on board the plane... I have no idea what Fatshark has to offer now, but I have heard they've improved leaps and bounds. My DJI gear has been faultless from day one, I'll not be moving away from dji any time soon. Hope this helps, if you have any questions, throw me your email addy. Good luck, and be warned- it's very addictive! lol

I've got the same plane. Fell in love 5 seconds after seeing it. My only RC experience is sailplanes. I've only flown with the rudder and elevator on the right stick. Will this plane fly rudder and elevator as I am accustomed? I'm afraid to fly the Fox if I change the controls. I've got lots of time with a Night Radian but I can't figger out how to move the rudder control to the left stick. I think its a BNF thing. I move the rudder to the aileron port but get nothing. Would you fly the Fox with rudder and elevator on the right stick and throttle and ailerons on the left? Subscribed! Seeking to do FPV too once I get the hang of flying the Fox.
@aristocraftboy
@aristocraftboy Жыл бұрын
Well, three channel is a concept I hadn't considered for this Fox lol Generally speaking, most decent sized three channel gliders, with my limited knowledge, requires decent dihedral or polyhedral main wings for natural stability. This Fox is an aerobatic glider, not unlike the full scale, so I'm thinking it isn't likely to naturally level out easily with dead straight & level main wings. The biggest challenge would be with low airspeed, if it starts to mush you won't have ailerons to level the girl. And so landing could be interesting, without crow or such mixes she floats a *lot* in ground effect and even with barn door flaps I am deadstick all the way from the downwind leg to final, and still she uses a lot of ground to get her to settle. I also fly a three channel 100" Sig Riser, uber lightweight compared to these 3000mm Foxes so the Fox carries an amount of mass induced energy- shes a porker lol, although she still surprises me how well she floats given her weight. Next time I fly, if I remember, I'll try using just rudder and elevs and see how she goes.... but to be honest I think you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't embrace four channel at some point, it's great!

I programmed the Fox 3000 with no problems at all. All the controls work exactly as I want them to but I've zero experience using the rudder on the left stick which means a few crashes. @Navigator777777 personally I fly mode 2 ie ailerons and elevator on the right stick. I fly three channel gliders with rudder and elevator on the right stick with throttle only on the left stick. All I do is put the rudder servo plug into the aileron channel on the rc receiver, assuming your controller is mode 2 already, no mods are required. I don't fly Spektrum so if your receiver is SAFE gyro assisted, not sure how that would work...

@@aristocraftboy I get it. I've got a Fox 3000 I'm afraid to fly because I've never flown with a rudder on the left and aileron/elevator on the right. I don't know how I set up the Fox 3000 properly but I did it with an AR-637T. Everything works properly! My BNF Night Radian must have programing that prevents me from doing what I want...because I'm positive I didn't have to open the transmitter to change modes.
