Good panel with a platter of perspectives on the film. Going forward, it would be great to see everyone contributing to the conversation rather than the hosts projecting their thoughts more. Coming to the movie. Even if it is Indian Cinema and it has to have elements like hero intro fight + romantic interest + his own antics and world around him, it could be a lot tighter with better dialogues. The song sequence had one good redeeming quality when prabhas drinks water on the beach and connects with nature, rather than that there was no other element in the whole song which is in sync with the world building. I rewatched the movie on the biggest screen possible and I really was waiting for the second part. Because the forceful comedy even with the legend brahmi was underwhelming. The fight was not at all impactful, as we can see fleeting wire work and a lot of noticeable CG shots. For me, Amitabh was the main protagonist, whenever he was on screen the story picks up, even some of Deepika's scenes were boring but not Aswhatthama's. After Bahubali, I think prabhas had more lines in Kalki only, and props to him to act in a gray character (Even his regular attire is gray 😅) and Han Solo style bounty hunter. The world building might be based on many other foreign films, but still it was top-notch for an Indian movie. Shambala and its people resembled the mind set of Devasena from bahubali 2. Full of attitude, less open. Not one ounce of empathy was felt when the shields cracked open and many people of the free rebels were dying. There was little to no weight to characters of shambala. The 5000 units bounty guy who bujji caught at the beginning is a regular hero praiser and his character was barely interesting. Even the most hyped Bujji has no proper dialogues rather than what was shown in trailers. It was just an AI assistant that happens to be an automobile. Rather than an interesting character like R2D2 (starwars), Jarvis (Ironman), Finch or TARS (Interstellar)... Which could've been a lot more accomplished character so that merchandising would be more easily established. May be bujji was only intended to shine in the 3D Animated web series. Most of the secondary characters acting was underwhelming. The guy who has his daughter taken away by guards is least pleasing as a father. Kali will emerge when there is not a drop of water in ganga (direct exposition by rajendra Prasad garu) + Parents who care for their children extremely which in turn hurts them (not shown properly)+ greed and social classes divide is at peaks (shown in the form of complex) + when gender cannot be determined easily (shown by Raia character). I've mentioned mostly the things I was disappointed with because there is already many who speak of its positives. But, I need to mention the Mahabharata scenes which were visually stunning, even though the writing and accents could have been improved a lot. Krishna's voice had bass but lacked character, the visuals carried those scenes. As you guys mentioned De-aged Amitabh would've been surely done by Sonu Sood or other doppelganger, but I was looking the clarity of those renders, mostly Unreal engine renders, quality was ok, not uncanny to look at, but noticeable. Those scenes were breathtaking even with all the flaws, they were goosebumps inducing. Finally Kalki is an Average movie in the genre of Blockbusters. It couldn't be compared with regular commercial movies. It is another step in the right direction for Indian Cinema. Had a good time watching. Good going with the passionate talks. Try to increase more on the film making aspects rather than simple conversations, as there are already N number of streamers who just talk about movies. Subscribed.
