Hi Stephen, you are right about the feathers on the bird very smooth and I do take artistic liberties which I like to enhance the look of the bird. I do acknowledge that I change thing out an in some cases tell my audience to skip certain steps if it is to tedious. But most of the time I use my own judgment in creating my carving . There are many more feathers in the wing area and I choose to show only some of them. I am trying to create a bird as close as I can. I am not perfect but am trying

Hi, the way I would approach it by getting tracing paper and going to the internet for drawing of the peacock and the Crain and try combining the to two on tracing paper. When you get a good profile, then try to create a top view. Between these to views that should give you e good start . I hope that helps

Hi Noah, the truth is I now create my own patterns myself because I studied the birds over many years and had a good ability for drawing and change the position of the birds now and then. I also reference other patterns originally from other books like Rosylan Daisy “ bird carving books 1 and 2, songbird carvings by Ernest muhlmatt book. I also reference stiller patterns which are still available today. I use skins from private collections that were not available to everyone. I have many patterns available from classes that I created over the years. Probably about 60 or more, I do draw a lot and have done bears , fox,fish,elk,turtles . If you’re looking for info on any subject , just search the internet and practice drawing what you are interested in. I hope this will help you out.
