Bless you! I'm part of a Pyr rescue in Richmond, VA and we are bursting at the seams with Pyrs. They are awesome BUT they are not for everyone. Thank you for fostering and helping these wonderful dogs find loving homes.

Absolutely LOVE my G.P. however, this breed is not for everyone. They need an owner who is firm but, very patient. They are definitely not for newby dog owners nor owners who live in small apartments or have small yards with neighbors close in.

I'm so sorry you lost a beloved friend. I lost a rescue Great Pyr in September and it is aways heartbreaking. I am now down to a pack of three. The Pyr that recently passed was a rescue from TX (in the video. Look up Great Pyrenees Rescue Society and you will find adoptions available in Texas. Many of the Pyrs are transported to Seattle (and elsewhere), where many find good homes. There are likely Pyrs available in CA too. Just reach out to thr Great Pyrenees Rescue Society and they will lead you to the current dogs available. There is a screening process to ensure the adopter has proper fencing etc. All the best in your search. I have never found a breed as loving and devoted to their family.

I blame the people who dumped their animals there. People also drop off unwanted pets at farms, guess what happens there? Farmers don't collect them, they just shoot them.

It is sad that these people say they love these dogs but they only adopt to white people. I have a Great Pyranese that I raised from a baby and love him and know all about Great Pyranese and take very good care of my dog, I was told that I had to have my 2 1/2 year old Great Pyranese neutered before I could adopt a male dog. So I decided to purchase from a breeder

It is a REQUEST to world MEDICAL SCIENTISTS that they develop ORAL MEDICINES WHICH CAN STOP OR CONTROL BREEDING OF STRAY ANIMALS world over. These stray animals are suffering enormously in every nook and corner of the world which go totally unnoticed. In a world where human beings hv no time for animals and where nobody has any emotion for helpless animals, we need to develop such ORAL MEDICINES which can be easily given to them orally thru FOOD which will go a long way to control their population and hence lessen their sufferings. PL DO SOMETHING ABOUT STRAY ANIMALS ALSO. IF Corona vaccine can be developed in just less than a YEAR, same way oral food medicines for controlling BREEDING of animals can also be developed in a YEAR......RICH PEOPLE should contribute to animal medical research centres for developing such oral medicines. Common man can also give a small TAX to fund animal medical research institutes. Developing oral infertility medicines would be the GREATEST animal rescue effort. People should STOP purchasing pets from breeders as they cause great pain to animals. Kindly RAISE VOICE against animal abuse and brutal animal killing for meat. Demand painless killing if you can't resist meat....ADOPT VEGAN, PLEASE. 🙏

@ab935
@ab935 3 жыл бұрын
Brace yourself, most of those pandemic puppies will be ditched in a year or so. Perhaps the shame squad should start working on the present owners to make them see the light. Unless, of course, the economy gets THAT bad. Then people should be informed that LGDs don't eat all that much for their size, and over vaccination will make the vets rich and their dog sick. AND, ivermectin and pyrantel pamoate, aka heartgard, is otc. One $35 bottle of ivomec could treat every dog in my town for well over a year.

Do you have time to answer some questions? I'm interested in adopting a PPyrenees from the rescue I work at & this would be my first one. I'm in love with this beautiful pup named Alaska & I just have some general questions about the breed & how well they would do in my house. Thank you.
@wysasi

Hi, and certainly I can help with questions. Great Pyrs are amazing dogs. I currently have four Pyrs, three are from The Great Pyrenees Rescue Society, and one an owner surrender from our local shelter. There is a lot of info available online via rescues throughout the U.S. Pyrs are not for everyone and they shed A LOT. I appreciate your reaching out to see if a Great Pyrenees is the right breed for you. Another video I made for more info: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZLSpaynZsyErZY (Great Pyrenees - A Story of Compassion, Courage and Hope). There are also references provided in the video. Thanks for inquiring!

I have watched all your videos, thanks. I wanted to ask you if a Pyreneese would do alright in my house which is a duplex. I share a wall with my neighbor. I've read that they tend to bark at night or while their human is away. I own the property so I'm not worried about a landlord bit I'm worried about neighbors possibly calling law enforcement if my pup gets too loud. I plan on training & doing everything I can to maybe calm down the barking but I know I can't eliminate it. What do you think?
@wysasi
@wysasi 3 жыл бұрын
@@jordanenzie7314 I appreciate your researching in advance to committing to an adoption. Barking is definitely a characteristic of a GP. It s just a fact, given their ancestral and for some... current purpose (guarding sheep). (I do not believe in bark collars to control a natural characteristic). My dogs can have an outburst of barking during the night (they stay indoors at night) and they also bark during the day. I can deal with it as I am home during the day, and have a large fenced yard. Perhaps you could utilize a dog walker or doggy daycare/camp when you are at work. I have had to work with all situations, including unhappy neighbors. It can be challenging and a commitment to getting the dog exercised a LOT to keep the peace. In fact, my most recent adoption was a Pyr surrendered to the shelter for barking, and being destructive during the day, while the owners were away at work. I'm certain you would be a terrific Pyr owner, based on your concerns. Perhaps you could adopt on a trial basis and talk to your neighbors about giving it a try. Pyrs cannot be trained to not bark. It's their job.

I adopted a Great Pyrenees-Mix rescue dog from a shelter in Fort Worth TX about five years ago. They found him wandering along the side of I-35W. Didn't know until a couple years later when I did the doggy DNA test that my sweet rescue was 50% Great Pyrenees. His name is Max, he's 5½ years old, weighs 75 pounds and he looks just like "Soli" in the video here (same size, mannerisms, coloring & markings). I had no idea that DFW was a huge area for breeding the Great Pyrenees. Now I wonder if my Max was abandoned from a backyard breeder whose purebred Pyrenees had puppies with a "Mutt". 🥺😥

It is thought Steve Markwell has likely set up another "sanctuary" somewhere else in the U.S. Current laws are so lax it is near impossible to stop a person like this. He also has the aid of his mother financing enterprises for him, and I believe is an attorney. Thank you for viewing the video. It was difficult to work with such horrifying material, but it was a story that had to be told. Bosso/Bailey has a WONDERFUL life now and one would never know he has been through such horror. On the other end of the spectrum, there are wonderful people in the world that pick up the pieces of abused animals and give them another chance at the life they deserve.
