Sanding. Varnish is tricky. People tend to overbrush trying to get out the brush marks. You could try to pour and scree using a brush to varnish the side edges with the overflow.

We have to leave ours dripping and we have a heat lamp in the well house. Our only issue came a couple of years back when we got an unusually high amount of snow and ice…and that’s when we discovered that whoever originally put in the pipes from the well to the house ran them in a very shallow trench with only a couple of inches of dirt covering them. It’s a fairly long expanse, so with all the accumulation and highs in the low teens for a few days, it froze up along that line.

Thank you for taking the time to do this video. The 2 things I will be taking away with this info you provided are the pegas clamps and the part about the WD40. I haven't been using it on anything other than a squeaky door or bike chain when I was a kid. You are the first person that said it's a degreaser. I told my husband this and he said he's never heard this either. So when I buy my HF Bauer scoll saw I will be changing out the claps to pegas and buy a can of automotive grease.🎉 Thank you🎉

There is no such thing as a cheap hobby. You start off with a few bits and pieces and very soon you need to add more paraphernalia. Setting up including consumables has cost me more than 2000 dollars and more. Then you begin to get a little bit serious and you realise your quality and pen finish needs to improve if you want to sell some pens. (To help cover some of the costs) Warning I used to keep a spreadsheet of all my expenses. That's how I realised how much the hobby was costing me. I soon got rid of the spreadsheet. Now nobody knows how much pen turning is costing me. I used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day (I quit years ago thank goodness) I think smoking was a far cheaper hobby. You will need or want it makes no difference. A decent hobby lathe a decent set of wood lathe chisel set an fine oil stone, you have to keep your chisels sharp A pedestal drill A mandrel preferably with a mandrel saver. a pen press A pen blank drill press a band saw a sanding machine An extractor system Extra lights installed to better see what you are doing A fan Face shield, mask. (After installing an extractor I now do not need a mask but I do have one Drills and bushes to suit a least half a dozen kits glues epoxy and CA Rubber gloves. ( I was forever picking glue off my fingers. various sanding sheets Micro polishing pads pen kits I always buy packs of ten of each pen type. extraction pin set clothes A vacuum to keep the workshop clean and tidy Drawers to store all parts in. I made three sets of drawers wood and acrylic blanks (If you buy 50 random acrylic blanks from China the price is reasonable) cases to put pens in to sell them A display case That should be enough to get you started. Have fun. You are going to be so busy.
