They don't usually come in the door. Ever seen the TV show It Takes a Thief? Not the old TV series from the 70s but the one from a couple decades ago. They look for weak points. There are usually some, Like a cracked open window or basement window.

why multi point lock? there are GLASSES at the side of the door. God this is the pointless thing I ever seen.
@joshf-o66962 ай бұрын
I have multi point locking exterior doors in my mountain house that are all glass panel. I'm not worried about burglars, but bears are a legitimate concern.
@twinklefire72412 ай бұрын
If it's laminated glass, it'll be practically impenetrable. We have camera footage of someone trying to break into one of our windows with a crowbar. Pounding at it, it took 4 hours to make a hole big enough to put his hand through. Not a joke, not a fake story.
@Mhztyz252 ай бұрын
@@joshf-o6696 You trully have a point. I'm brazilian and my first worry would be burglars trying to get inside my house. And down here these people gets really creative if they see an oportunity. But in your case, living in a much safer country a laminated glass, like the dude said below should be enough to avoid risks such as wild life and minor incidents. I assume the worst by my experience. My bad.

I think wood is a outdated material to use in construction. prefab concrete walls would be better. my opinion though
@WilliamsSkilliams8 ай бұрын
Timber is a renewable resource and sequesters carbon. Concrete is the exact opposite, which is why the building industry is trying to use less of it. Plus flat packing concrete walls would be mad heavy…. With that being said there are new companies using concrete walls, look into 3D printed houses. Icon, out of Austin is doing some cool stuff.

Been watching a number of the Unity/Bensonwood KZbin videos lately, but I am curious why I never see anyone rolling the zip tape. I understand this is critical for proper adhesion of the pressure activated adhesive. Also I would expect to see the little imprints of the zip system logo on the finished tape but don't see these either in the closeup views of installed seams. So how does Bensonwood/Unity do this step in the process? Of course you could be using another mechanism to pressure seal like you probably doe with the Sega products that use a small plastic spatula/squeegee device.
@bensonwoodhomes5 ай бұрын
Hello! Most of the zip tape is installed and rolled at our production facility before shipping to site. Some additional taping will happen on site - at the seams between panels. Thanks for the question!

The scope of work we provide typically doesn't cost even half of that number, but we are just one piece of the pie. The local GC costs (foundations, site development, building systems, and finishes) can all vary considerably with the location, design, finishes and complexity. We help customers evaluate their building plans for affordability - so please reach out at [email protected]

They are now requiring a blower door test for new construction, at least where I live. We used Zip-R sheathing and Zip Tape plus closed cell foam in wall cavities and passed with a rating 75% better than the passing threshold. Would have done even better if I had remembered to plug the bath and range hood fan vents. This was a surprise to the tester, as he said many tests he's done had failed with other new homes in the area. Running around trying to figure out where the leaks are must be a bitch without spending a few grand to have another contractor out to use an aerosol mist to find these hidden cracks.

Great time lapse! I think I would categorize this more as a hybrid home where the exterior walls seem to be traditional 24 inch on center ballon framed construction but the important interior details are timber framed for the unbeatable ascetic and beauty. This seem to fit with Bensonwood honoring the craft and still embracing technology!

WOW the amount of engineering, planing and detail that you have designed into your process is incredible. This is so much above and beyond where the rest of the industry is. It is no wonder your homes are not even comparable to the traditional stick built American home.

Probably the most efficient construction method that I have seen. I'm considering using Bensonwood Homes for a lot in Sapphire, NC. I had been exploring a 3D printed home but I think the Bensonwood construction process is much more advanced at this point. The lot is heavily wooded and I want to retain as many trees as possible. I also want to avoid the traditional concrete foundation due to radon and termite risk as well as rainwater incursion.

An energy efficient home or business is more comfortable and saves money in the long run. Solar energy on your roof combined with battery storage can make people more independent from the grid and natural gas supplies. Add solar and supplemental electric heating or a heat pump for home or business heating.. All big box stores and manufacturing sites can support solar energy on their roofs or parking lots. Added insulation, double or triple glaze windows, energy efficient doors, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, energy efficient appliances, LED lighting, smart thermostats, solar panels combined with battery storage and a electric vehicle charger in the garage or car park. People are too focused on the short term costs and miss out on long term savings and comfort. Blower door testing and air sealing are under appreciated tools.Even if you have money to burn you should not waste it. Climate Change will impact everyone. Leave a better future for your children and grandchildren. Join in and speak up for the future of the plane
