My teacher Daehaeng said that she was not always a woman and that she chose to be born a simple looking woman this time to accomplish her goal. I wish Khandro Rinpoche would know Daehaeng KunSunim's teachings, I am sure that Khandro Rinpoche would like it very much!🙏

Buddhism is all about how nature operates based on cause and effect. But you can manipulate the impact somewhat by reforming yourself through good thoughts and actions. That is where meditation comes in. There is no place for prayers in Buddhism but yet people do this blindly thinking Buddha can help you, but he can only guide you. When someone tries to understand what is good and bad and tries to correct himself by looking inside through retrospection and making a sincere effort to correct himself, this process is called meditation Buddhism can only guide you and the rest we have to do ourselves. Even what I have mentioned here should not be accepted as true without investigation according to Buddha. Best wishes

My simple question is, how does consciousness think? Does it have a brain? How do you navigate your way in death. How do you see in death, atleast your brain works during sleep and dreams but not in death.
@studybuddhism11 күн бұрын
This is a great question! Firstly, we need to understand what consciousness is. It is a formless, non-material continuum that perceives, experiences, and engages with phenomena. It doesn’t inherently “think” in the way we understand conceptual thought; rather, thinking arises as an interplay between the mental consciousness and the conceptual imprints stored in the mind. While we are alive, the brain acts as a mediator or tool that shapes how consciousness manifests. However, consciousness itself is not dependent on the brain-it exists independently as a continuum of mental clarity and knowing. The brain ceases at death, but consciousness continues. In the intermediate state, which we call the bardo, consciousness is no longer tethered to the body and brain. Navigation through the bardo is influenced by our karmic imprints-habitual tendencies and actions from previous lives-and the mental states we cultivated while alive. These karmic forces and habitual perceptions determine the experiences and the type of rebirth that follows. Advanced practitioners may use their awareness during the dying process to guide their consciousness skillfully, recognizing the bardo appearances as projections of their own mind rather than reacting with fear or attachment. In the bardo, the mind doesn’t require the physical mechanisms of the brain or sensory organs. Perception at this stage is entirely mental, similar to lucid dreaming but more vivid and unrestricted. The mind creates its own appearances based on karmic seeds, like a dream arising from latent mental impressions. While in life, the brain and senses filter and limit perception; in death, these filters are gone, allowing the mind to perceive directly and subtly. This is why it is so important to prepare for death through practicing ethical behavior and cultivating compassion and wisdom. By familiarizing ourselves with the nature of the mind and working to purify our destructive habits, we can create the causes for positive outcomes during and after the dying process. Advanced practitioners may even use death as an opportunity to attain liberation by recognizing the nature of mind directly!

@irgend-jemand081514 күн бұрын
If you have it for you, you are able to have/do/know it. So it is possible to learn/modify to share it with others. Could imagine, the way of the buddha (like the way of christ, many osychological ways and many many other) will show you to cultivate it. You dont need to learn. You are compassion. Loving awareness - not so easy to understand and feel. Someone who is rude to others is not a bad y he's feeling bad. If you rice up the self compassion and little by little heal some wounds, you will become more and more compassionated to others. 100%. Good luck and may you find what you are searching for - but dont search to far.😉 Best wishes dear, a co-walker/-searcher 🙏🏻

Whilst I agree with most of what she says, I think the statements about the role of guilt in other religions are over-generalised. I would say that Christianity speaks of a collective sinfulness, not a mere individual one, that is designed to unite people to improve themselves and follow a spiritual path. After all, Buddhism also speaks of the inherent susceptability of every individual to selfishness and negative actions (sin, if you will), and this is also a way of reducing the self to something much smaller than it appears to be.

A secondary approach to countering sexual desire is to mindful of what will come with that if we are engaged properly, meaning marriage, is the care of a family in every sense. For me, I am at a place in my life where I enjoy having few worldly cares and few worldly possessions. While I am far from a monastic, quoting the late Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, "food, clothing, and housing are adequate but not excessive."

I have only remembered one dream since I had a “see the light” NDE 7.5 years ago. I became aware of some of the Buddhist teachings through a book I was given because I love cats. Synchronicity. The teachings also seemed so familiar. When meditating I focus on two words: Love, Compassion. A few months ago I had a dream where I was to care for all the animals. And after some time, I mentioned to whomever gave me such a great job to begin with, that I could do better if I wasn’t always short handed. I was given 1,000 hands as the Dream, or memory of it, faded. A few days later I was in town and stopped into a Tibet shop where I had purchased the Amitaba Buddha (dyslexic 😅) I wear as a necklace. He said yes, the Buddha of Compassion. I was standing right in front of a 5’ tall statue of him and not sure what I was seeing as I wasn’t expecting 1,000 heads as well 😅. He gave me something like a postcard with Buddha of Compassion in the center and 6 other beings (which I found out are Bodisatvas, but I need to investigate further) with a nice silk boarder. I will start sessions gazing at his face and I can imagine him as a 3D statue if I need calming. Im still starting, so it’s surprisingly tricky to think of a 3D image of the Buddha while in meditation. If it’s ingrained, hopefully, I recognize him in my next life and start practicing early in life. 😊
