There are rocks that contain minerals that leak into the tank elevating the ppm and possibly creating heavy water
@terramaterfarms2 ай бұрын
Great point, and you’re absolutely right that some rocks can leach minerals into the water, potentially affecting water hardness (GH) or alkalinity (KH). It’s always important to test rocks before adding them to your tank. For example, pouring vinegar on a rock can help detect if it contains calcium carbonate, as it will fizz if present. Rocks like limestone or dolomite can elevate hardness and pH, which might not be suitable for soft-water species. In the video, I aimed to highlight the benefits of using rocks in tanks. Thanks for bringing this up! Almost everything you put your tank can have an adverse reaction to something, at the end of the day I recommend going natural, save your money!

I thought it was only certain kinds? I can't see how some teas out there would be any good for them.
@terramaterfarms2 ай бұрын
You're right, it's important to be selective about the types of tea used in shrimp tanks. Only organic, pesticide-free teas with no additives, flavorings, or artificial ingredients should be considered. Also dont use any caffeinated tea bags, it could be toxic.

Plants do not clean air
@terramaterfarms2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! While plants alone won’t dramatically improve air quality in a modern home, research (like the NASA Clean Air Study) suggests certain plants, can remove small amounts of airborne toxins in your home. However, the effect in real-world settings is minimal compared to proper ventilation or air purifiers. 🌿

Isn't that a pothos?

Yes, you are correct, it is pothos, not philodendron. My bad

Its algoods, they look similar and some get excited, and say another plant than what was intended. It looks like devil's ivy/golden pothos. I have about 4 different pothos
@terramaterfarms2 ай бұрын
@@rebeccasaunders3290 thanks for the understanding. its actually marble queen pothos. I have tons of pothos and philodendrons all over the place. Yes, they are very similar. I seen one in the nursery that had a common name of "something pothos" but scientifically it was a philodendron. When you do a deep dive of this stuff, you see how messy it is, lol.
@rebeccasaunders32902 ай бұрын
@terramaterfarms 😂😂 ikr! Pothos is a family branch of the philodendron, so you are right, too. I do have a marble queen ( I forgot the name, so I took a stab in the dark lol) but mine is more white splashes. I have glacier/snowqueen(those 2 are hard to decipher) and a lime. Paid for a neon, but it's a lime 🥲 Oh, and my Brazilian 😅 and that had a reverted baby. Is that emerald?

Turning the cover crop/green manure back into the ground will negate much of the benefit of the c.c
@terramaterfarms4 ай бұрын
Turning a cover crop back into the soil does not negate the benefits; in fact, it is one of the primary ways cover crops provide value. When cover crops are tilled or turned into the soil, they decompose and release valuable nutrients, such as nitrogen, which enhances soil fertility and structure. This process also increases organic matter content, which improves water retention and supports beneficial soil organisms.
@666bruv4 ай бұрын
@@terramaterfarms tillage negates the benefit of the cover crop a few ways. It destoys the structure leading to compaction and water erosion, it destroys the fungal hyphae, protozoa and nematodes, earthworms etc, also creating a bacterial dominant soil, and with the increased O2, they burn up the carbon levels. most ag soils read around .5% soil carbon The tillage also burns off the N or is washed away by rains into native habitats. Both Science and modern farming practices have provided substantial results displaying reduced to no tillage, while keep the O.M intact, both surface foliage and roots. Tillage also creates the weeed nightmare due to zero competion.

Dude you are doing something drastically wrong lol,,,, try building a habitat,, ,that's just an enclosure with a few plants plopped in for good measure....! If one species is consuming another they need a habitat to coexist with out issues,,,,,!
