What do you do when the cyclist is passive aggressive and moves out in road to block you passing? This happens a lot. Control freaks i guess.

@@guitarcafeguy if it's an unsafe place to pass, they are being passing protective. If this happens, just slow down, be patient and within no time at all, you'll be back on your way. It's just a few seconds. Leave 10 mins earlier if a few seconds delay is concerning. Best way to stay safe and alive

@ Im talking about i was on a wide straight road in a residential area, i even went in the other lane to pass and he went all the way in the other lane and gave me the finger. Despite keeping a distance and trying to pass safely He would not let me pass and even zig zagged to prevent passing and i did nothing to provoke him.

@guitarcafeguy sounds like an unfortunate encounter with someone who has other issues. Best to give them an even wider berth and pass as soon as it's safe. Hopefully just a bad example and your other interaction are positive. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏿

I'm not a cyclist and in my city I see so many without helmets and endangering themselves turning blind corners at speed that they annoy me sometimes. But as a motorist I've always been aware of the fact that I'm in a deadly murder machine and they are not. Driving your car in traffic you have no rights, only obligations and avoiding endangering the lives of people however much they annoy you is certainly one of them. Anyone who brings their emotions and fragile ego into their driving habits is a pathetic individual unfit to drive in my opinion.

@@Kiwi_Dave average weight of a car = 2.5 tonnes My heaviest bike is 14kg. Big metal machine v small soft human. 1.5m isn't a lot to ask if it means someone isn't killed or injured. @@blackcyclist You don't get any curtesy until you stop running red lights, ignoring pedestrian crossing, risking our kids on footpaths, riding too close behind and passing slow moving traffic. 1.5m goes both ways as a road law, cyclist always ignore it, so do I back to them. Why cyclists are so hated.

I have noticed that drivers are trying to overtake cyclist when a road narrows to a single lane - for example on the approach to a pedestrian crossing point with a middle island. In single lane situations like this, I would recommend that the cyclist holds the middle of the lane until getting past the 'pinch point' and so deter drivers from attempting this dangerous overtake.

There is alot of annoying videos people giving cyclist all kinds of comments, I live in the Netherlands we have bike lanes almost everywhere, and even then people are giving cyclist all kinds of comments. but where you live, where should a cyclist go right? Nine of ten times its the car being to impatient in my opinion.

I noticed at the end of the video you quoted leaving 1.5 m gap to a cyclists on overtake., which is logical for safety. On that basis why don't cyclists leave the same gap in a queue of vehicular traffic, instead choosing to nearly remove my wing mirrors?

It’s actually an offense to wave someone on, simply reducing speed on approach would of been enough to signal to the van driver in a legal manner, one should do what’s best flow for all so cyclists was doing the correct thing apart from waving tho doubt police would pull someone for this offense

@ depends on the situation in this case nobody will have an issue just pointing out what it says in the Highway Code, I’ve waved others on if I know it’s 100% safe to do so but the Highway code states it’s an offense regardless, I’ve waved a police car before got a thank from the driver so all that would happen I guess if one day a dick of a cop came along is just pull one about it, tho theses days probably 2 years in jail if there a woke copper

I cant say for certain, but its definitely got some level of water resistance as I set a lot and the unit is soaked after each use, but I've never experienced any leakage. Maybe the newer model with the rechargeable battery is IP rated?

Bikes should on a track, not a road. Roads are for cars, whose fees and taxes PAY for the road.

Thanks for the comment. It's a widely shared misconception, but road tax was abolished in 1937. Roads are funded from central government by way of our taxes. So as an employee I pay income tax on salary at 40%, VAT on all my bikes at 20%. I will often use a cycle lane where they are available. More tracks just for bikes?
