I prefer the bit longer so the hair is more scruffy like a teddy bear without being too long. I have a 5mth Cavoodle and I’m grooming her longer as she looks adorable. With the short cut they are too much like a poodle cut and beats the purpose of having a Cavoodle I personally think.

Oh my goodness, you are just what I needed today. I have a five-year-old rescue dog who does not enjoy walking. He’s the perfect companion for someone who is housebound. He is well behaved and has never been destructive. He is extremely fearful outside the house. I am working with a dog trainer for the last two months and I do not feel I’ve gained any ground. Yet with your video, you certainly give me hope. To be fair to my trainer there are some things that parallel with what you do. She’s always said I need patience and faith. ❤❤❤❤❤

My dog is a rescue, 1 year old and he's with me for the past 4 months. He's always been a little scared of street noises, cars, etc, but got better with treats untill...it didn't. A loud noise made him terrified to go out again. One of the things a dog trainer told me was to never stop and look at him when he stops on the street so I now do that and he does walk with me. He's not happy but he's not terrified either but he does pull the leash (a lot) once he understands that we're on our way home. The trainer told me to get him used to be on the street, to walk him for long periods of time, do you agree?

My dog was a stray dog and he was injured, he was good at first but then got attacked by another dog since then he is scared of everything outside the house (cars, sounds, kids, football, ANYTHING) he is also aggressive. Also he doesn't eat any treats outside the house. I take him 2 times daily outside, he is 3 yrs old. I try to change my technique but really i can see a small improvement but then everything goes away and he is scared out of everything. Nothing catches his attention no treats no toys nothing untill he is in a quite area. I need help with him

My dog is a rescue, he’s been locked up in a small kennel his whole life, so he basically know nothing about the outside world. When we first grondig we did go on walks but slowly he was turning around sooner and sooner. Now he walks 3 meters and pulls us back immediately. He does go in our garden, so he does so his business outside. But he really needs his walks, he’s gaining weight and bored inside. Is hard, but I will definitely use your tips

Honestly someone else said this of all the videos I see of how to groom your Cockapoo this has to be the the most understanding. I’m a new Cockapoo owner and trying to learn myself. I always had Poms and I thought they were high maintenance but I believe now Cockapoo’s are. It seems they need to be groomed more often that’s just my opinion. But thank you! Now let’s see how I do😂 it can always grow back right.

Thank you so very much for this video. I have an emotional support animal named Maggie who is TERRIFIED of thunderstorms. Well, I live in Florida and that pretty much happens every day half the year. Now that she's 8 years old her fear has gotten worse and she's refusing to go outside. I REFUSE to let her fear dominate her life. So, I am so very grateful that I found your video. Thank you! And Maggie thanks you I am sure.

I have an update....I tried your techniques and by the 2nd try my dog Maggie was asking to go out! She walked all the way to the treeline by where the neighbors live. We don't live in a hugely quiet neighborhood. She was so excited to be outside because I just went for it😂. I kept thinking of how you said to be a fitness instructor so that's what I did and boy did it work!😅 I was high energy....silly...ridiculous and loud, but it worked! She will do anything for a blueberry. Now I know her superpower! 😅 Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My dog is 2 years old and she wont go outside other than my backyard to use the bathroom. Once she's done, she is forcing her way through my back door. Taking her for walks is an uphill battle. She even becomes afraid of the harness because she knows it means outside. I got her at 8 weeks, shes almost 2. Ill see if doing this can help.....

@@KaylaAndrews-cy1gq we moved so I believe whatever he outdoor fears were have improved. I ditched the harness and have been using a collar. We skipped a few days of walk and just did outdoor play so I think that helped with the excitement of wanting to go for a walk again. Switching from a harness to a collar definitely helped but really have to stay consistent with loose leash walking

We can't thank you enough. Our 2 year old 71 lb rescue loved the outdoors. Then he refused to go out and was acting really strange. Thanks to your video our beloved Neptune is startinfg to get better after one day. We have 2 fenced acres on a dirt road in Jupiter Florida, We feel something really bad happemed to Neptune in the yard. Since he can come and go outside through the doggy door we did not witness the tramatic event. Was he bit by the many wildlife critters that visits our property? We will never know but we are suspisious of everything and everyone. Since we live in an equestrian area was one of the horse people that don't like our 3 barking dogs as they pass by our properties gate area do something with like a BB gun. Again we will never know. We are in our 70s and only have 3 rescue dogs. Years ago a local teenager shot a horse with a .22 rifle so any thing is possible in this cruel world. My wife Denise thanks you, my 3 babies thank you and I thasnk you..

A lot of this kinda is the complete opposite of what I've always heard to do. I'd be concerned about making the issue worse. Aren't you reinforcing the behavior by telling them it's okay, petting them, and picking them up? I'm not trying to argue, I am genuinely looking for help for our dog.

Loved this video! Jax is so beautiful. I can appreciate the work my groomers did with my cockapoo Chester. My hubby and I would either have him cut like a poodle or a cocker spaniel because he looked adorable either way. Seeing the work done here I wouldn't even elect to trying it myself, lol. I didn't realize the paw area was so sensitive, as that was the only time Jax whimpered a bit. The groomer earns her money.

My 5 year old rescue greyhound is very fearful of going outside, she is terrified of planes & helicopters & we have to go with her into our the garden to get her to go to the toilet. She hates to go on walks, her tail goes under and she shakes. Sadly she is not motivated by toys or treats or food. She would prefer to sleep. Vet check found nothing wrong. Any advice welcomed.

What clippers brand do you use? I have an Andis that I'm borrowing from my son. It has 6 combs #1- 1/8"- 3mm; #2- 1/4"- 6mm; #3 @3/8"-10mm; #41/2"- 13mm; #5- 16mm; #6-3/4" -19mm. I'm anxious but nervous to start. Our dog is a cockapoo she is rather old at15yrs. Should she be dry before the cut? Loved your video we watched it several times. Geri G.

Do you also expose them to clipper work? If not, I think that's a big area where you could expand the program. I find a lot of the younger puppies who come for a first haircut may not mind the scissors, but still have a difficult, scary groom because they fear the clipper noise and vibration against their coat. A lot of the common salons (high volume chain places) won't scissor nose to tail like that and only offer shaving for full body work, so that becomes the sticking point. ESPECIALLY front legs, where it vibrates more and scares them :(
@Edendog
@Edendog Жыл бұрын
I totally agree! I start exposing the babies to clippers and put the clipper body for the vibration on the puppies around 2 weeks of age while they're nursing. They'll stop nursing for a second sometimes but then they go back to eating. I do this a couple times a week and then starting around 4 weeks of age I start cleaning paw pads when I clip nails once a week and I give them a mini sanitary trim on that same day. Keeping their feet clean helps with potty training which I start around 5 weeks of age, and I handle their feet daily since they're born. Even with all of that they still clearly don't like having their feet messed with, but they just look patient and slightly annoyed instead of flopping or screaming! Haha. I try to get them to explore the edges of the grooming table, too, so that they're less likely to fall off. I feel like doing this is making a difference. I have had a couple groomers tell my families how happy they were at the first groom. But if the owners don't pick up where I leave off and they ignore grooming for months and get the dog matted or just not handled I think a lot of that work would be for nothing. Grooming seems to be a huge modern issue with doodles and poodle mixes. I've been on groomer groups online to get tips and tricks and I have seen such frustration and physical break down of the body wrestling with untrained dogs. The things owners aren't being told, etc. I am NOT gonna contribute to that problem if I can help it. Grooming my own dogs has been a very eye opening experience for me. Groomers seriously deserve every single penny, and honestly a lot more than they make. The job is hard, exhausting, and potentially dangerous. Nobody really thinks about how a dog that bites a groomer can end their career or seriously harm it. They think of their dog, but anyway, off my soapbox. LOL Anyway, I appreciate the feedback!! And honestly, any suggestions my way I will appreciate! I do struggle getting them to remain standing. LOL I haven't figured that out yet apart from patiently standing them back up until I can be annoying enough that they give up. Haha.
