Lovely interview. Also, Emilie is spot-on about the importance of registering to vote, if for no other reason than out of respect for those in the past who made it possible.

What a journey from boxing over weight lifting into the 2024 olympics in just 3 years - from her perspective but also the danish program and trainers to encourage rookies to start. It is a completely different world from full time weightlifter to part time weight lifting as a full time rower - not to mention. Quite a long and really winding journey from danish box champion 10 years ago to olympic weightlifting with 180 cm (which is awfull tall at least compared to the competition) to rowing and who knows where it might end up. But there is also the big difference from boxer to a weight lifter into a number in a rowing crew even though she is out of the number seats in the bow. Lot of opportunities inside that boat up to a single. What a surprising interview cause usually it is a total different story about at what age the rowing carreer started over the under 17 championchips and what not. Imagine you would also do an interview with 1 or 2 of the others in the danish eights how different that would feel like the 18 year old compared to former boxing champ coming from weith lifting. good luck for the danish eight who send Germany and China home to train another 4 years.

Great interview chaps. A fantastic undertaking on your part and as a fellow rowing parent (who doesn't row) I feel very proud of you and support your causes. I wish you the very best of luck.

Just brilliant! I know this would have been before the big news at Oxford, but I wonder how hard OUBC would try going after someone like Scott, as a dark blue, to replace Sean! @crossyscorner

So glad that CUBC shared this link, as I've been itching for these insights to an extraordinary race and engrossing drama, so thanks to both of you for this quenching interview! Matt and the crew were impressively smooth for the Dutch clash (aptly called) which I was lucky to follow on a launch. That solid smoothness prevailed against Oxford, who were forced to fluster. Respect for going deep for the win, and it was astonishing that Oxford barely closed in. Pre-race vomiting was surely a significant factor in depleting the tank. Great to hear Matt discuss racing lightweight too, which I did when the separate clubs seemed sadly hostile, before stroking Goldie with Bracey's father in the dramatic Disqualification race... P to BB ;) Dobs Vye

Deeply inspired by Matt's efforts this year. Thanks very much, Martin, for getting him on so soon. Just a quick pointer - looks like you have a typo in the title of this video. Crossy's Orner, should be Corner. I did keep chuckling at the "English sparkling wine" phrase that the BBC were using at the prize giving, and now Matt. "Ooooooo we can't call it champagne if it's not made in that region you know!!" I loved Matt's beautiful comment, after speaking about his mother's support in helping him see that he has more potential, "eleven years later you can drool on national television", was a lovely humorous and self-aware touch.

Great interview again. The predictions for the boatrace (2024) were great....:-) You were totally wrong! Do you know the difference between Oxford and Cambridge? What is the reason of the consecutive Cambrigde wins, do you think? What could it be?
