Hi, it's mangacaptor from the future! I read the 'Gender of Mona Lisa'/'Just like Mona Lisa' and it was garbage!!!! It's a harmful series with strong enbyphobia! So I don't recommend it at all, I hated it! Just ignore all my wishful speculation about it, it's gender-queer bait!

Thank you for the video! In terms of great sci-fi danmei, I would recommend Can ci Pin (Imperfections) by Priest. It is a longer story. but an amazing one.

Watching your videos is so dangerous, I always finish them wanting to buy books😂🫣 This time it's mainly BL Metamorphosis, Hirayasumi and Witch Hat Atelier. I'm in the middle of reading Shounen Note volume 3 and I'm glad I have a bit of the series left :) If you feel like picking up a new series soon, I can really recommend Call the name of the night🥰 It is finished in 5 volumes (4 out in English) and the artstyle reminds me of Yuhki Kamatani. The manga is very magical and calm, but deals with mental health issues under the surface, and the main protagonist Mira and her friends are so cute!

i think the problem with japanese translated novels is how translators find it hard to use specific words that are similar to the japanese way of saying things, making it seem repetitive in english translations. I have read both japanese and english version of certain novels, and i find this pattern a lot, but comparing it to the japanese novel, the point and nuance of the sentence was different and somehow, i understand it is difficult to translate that part. i may need to read the jpn ver of 異世界の沙汰は社畜次第 to see tho lol i just read the manga for this haha!

Ohh it's so interesting to hear about your Japanese learning expierience! I started reading manga in French about two years ago and it was pretty tough at the beginning (but I did learn it at school for 8 years, so I did not start at zero). But it sure gets easier with time, I hope that you will also come to this point :) The first thing I read in French was Fullmetal Alchemist and honestly I do not understnad how this fantasy manga was easier to read than Sket Dance, a slice-of-life series about students (but the first volumes broke me a lttle bit). So my learning was that comedy and students' slang is not the best to understand in a foreign language. I'm watching the video with a tea and snack right next to me, so when the sakuraco ad came, I was feeling very much prepared😂

I recommend 12歳! It’s 20 volumes, a cute story about love between 12 year olds (it gets cheesy and funny reading it again as an adult lol) but since it comes with furigana, i think you can learn a lot of kanji that are also a little bit geared towards teens-adults because even though the story revolves around 12 year olds, they tackle adolescence and growing up, so they do use a lot of kanji’s that are a little bit mature more often as compared to stories like doraemon ❤ good luck on your japanese learning journey! Also, i really look forward to your vlogs 💕💕💕

Shounen Note is so cute! I still need to find the rest of the volumes as they're scarce around me. I can't believe it's ending so soon, I gotta catch up! I've started learning Japanese ready for my trip next year, but not able to confidently read a Japanese manga, hopefully soon tho. And summer volumes I'm looking forward to are vol 20 of TBHK and vol 23 of JJK, but both come out in September so I'll be waiting a long time

Thank you so much! In my opinion the best video about this topic! I really appreciate you mentioning how much storage they take, I was going with a 8GB model but I will go with a 16GB or 32GB. I have never seen anyone mention how much space mangas take and I was shocked when you showed the difference

Ooooh these are GOOD! I can't recommend I Think Our Son is Gay and Doughnuts enough too (and Our Dreams at Dusk, with its fair share of content warnings though). I've heard good things of most of the others, with a special mention to I love to cook... of which I've been eagerly awaiting the French release (which just happened, and I'm eager to slowly catch up). Here are my top sapphic ones at the moment, because yuri shall rule the world: - How Do We Relationship? by tamifull (college students, incredible exploration of very messy sapphic romances, one of my favorite mangas period. Has NSFW scenes that feel extremely real and are used to explore the characters's insecurities just as much as everything else) - Even Though We're Adults by Takako Shimura (35 year old women falling in love, one of them is already in a straight marriage; but everyone is mostly of good faith and tries to untangle how this could work, which is a very nice change of pace from this formula) - Run Away With Me, Girl by battan (late 20 women reconnecting after briefly dating until high school, one of them is now married and stuck in an abusive relationship; heavy CW regarding that, simple plot, stellar execution and art style) - Otherside Picnic by Iori Miyazawa (almost-horror, uncanny genre fiction, just as much as it is yuri. Follows two college students bonding over the exploration of an otherworld where Japanese urban legends and true ghost stories live. The protagonist is extremely neurodivergent-coded, canonically has PTSD and some kind of dissociative disorder, slowly and organically learns that you can be gay and not to be in denial of her own feelings. Originally a (great) light novel.) Other titles I want to mention (but I'll keep it brief) include: Kase-san and... (Kase-san and Morning Glories, then Kase-san and Yamada for the sequel series) (staple good high school yuri) Whisper Me a Love Song (staple good high school yuri) The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy At All (good high school yuri with an emphasis on rock and a striking art style) The Moon on a Rainy Night (realistic closeted sapphic + love interest with hearing disability) The Summer You Were There (tragic, rather nonstandard high school yuri, with neurodivergent-coded main character) Goodbye, My Rose Garden (Victorian sapphic historical fiction)

First of all, I love the video and I'm so excited to read some of these! I've read Our dreams at dusk and its sooo good! Like the art? I love it so much. My recommendation is 'I Hear the Sunspot' for anyone that likes A Sign of Affection this is similar dealing with life for deaf and hard of hearing people in japan. It's about two guys in a relationship and sadly doesn't have any other lgbtq+ characters so far but it is my favorite bl I've read. Happy pride!

I hope the next weeks will work out for reading your tbr :) I was on a book buying ban in May and it worked (for May), but then I decided it's time to buy books again, whoops😂 But it's also not very helpful that I get so many library books and read them instead of my tbr books...

I’ve read most of these and they are absolutely amazing so I’m definitely gonna check out the rest for myself, I have recc for you as your friendly neighborhood asexual: I Want To Be A Wall. It follows newlyweds Yuriko and Gakurouta who have entered into what is essentially a lavender marriage, with Yuriko being aroace (just called asexual in the series but that’s mainly due to Yuriko having limited access to queer terms) and Gakurouta being a gay man in unrequited love with his childhood best friend. It’s a lovely story that I have unfortunately only been able to read the first volume of (I want to buy the next one but finding manga is rough where I live lol) but even with just that it left me a little bit weepy from how much I related to both their struggles, alongside the joy it brought me to see them care for each other so much. Will forever recommend it to anyone I can, I love it so much :)

Your TBR is so small compared to mine, Overwatch has once again taken up all my leisure time and so reading has taken a backseat. But I did manage to finish Obey Me volume 1.
